The Alaska SeaLife Center, Alaska’s premier public aquarium and Alaska's only permanent marine mammal rehabilitation facility, is located on the shores of Resurrection Bay in Seward in the U.S. state of Alaska. Open since May 1998, it is dedicated to understanding and maintaining the integrity of the marine ecosystem of Alaska through research, rehabilitation, conservation, and public education. It is the only facility in the world specifically dedicated to studying the northern marine environment and the only one designed at the outset to combine research with public education and visitor components. The Alaska SeaLife Center generates and shares scientific knowledge to promote understanding and stewardship of Alaska's marine ecosystems.The Alaska SeaLife Center project cost $55 million; Exxon Valdez oil spill settlement funds made up the $37.5 million portion of funds dedicated to research and rehabilitation. An additional $12 million was raised by selling bonds, and $1.1 million was raised locally through private donations.The Alaska SeaLife Center is a private, non-profit corporation with approximately 105 full-time employees and a staff of volunteers and interns.In September 2011, the Alaska SeaLife Center was granted accreditation by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. This acknowledgment places the ASLC in the top tier of their field as less than 5% of the nation's 6000 zoos and aquariums currently have this standard of certification.
The main campus, with four major areas, is located in Seward, AK and an Instructional Service Center for Allied Health training is located in Anchorage, AK. Originally named the Alaska Skill Center, AVTEC began with a single heavy equipment refurbishment program. AVTEC continued to expand its program offerings and the name was changed to Alaska Vocational Technical Center. The name was changed again in 2011 to AVTEC-Alaska’s Institute of Technology, and the school now offers 15 certificate-level programs. AVTEC is Alaska's premier postsecondary career and technical school, providing a wide variety of industrial and technology training. AVTEC is a division of the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development and is approved by the Alaska Commission on Post Secondary Education. AVTEC is nationally accredited by the Council of Occupational Education (COE) and most programs are industry certified.

AVTEC serves Alaskans from all across our great state. To accomplish this AVTEC provides housing for its students and their families with two dormitories and 17 family apartments. Additionally, AVTEC provides onsite daycare and a variety of recreation services. The Student Life Campus is staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week. What sets AVTECs Information Technology Program above others is its focus on the business needs of the IT Industry in Alaska and its success in graduating technicians with the skills and knowledge to not only be successful but to excel. Students spend 50% of the course learning theory and 50% of the course applying what they have learned on real industry equipment. The IT Program does not use any emulators or simulators to achieve hands on learning. Each student in the IT Program has their own server grade computer for use throughout the program. These are purchased at the beginning of the school year and are equipped with the most current processors, two solid state drives, and 32GB or more of RAM. These servers are used throughout the program to perform the labs in the CompTIA A+, Microsoft Desktop, Cisco CCNA R&S, Microsoft Server, and VMware portions of the program. From day one of training students are immersed into a virtualized environment using Microsoft and VMware hypervisors to create virtualized peer-to-peer and domain networks. Students have access to their own individual routers and switches. Each student uses a "pod" of three routers and three switches to achieve hands on labs during the Cisco Networking portion of the program. During the labs students connect to other students pods to form larger networks. During the VMware portion of training students utilize real equipment to perform labs and are not restricted by the limitations of emulators as is the case in other IT Programs offered in Alaska. This provides students a "real-world" experience in provisioning and troubleshooting VMware solutions.

We are located in Seward, Alaska and have classes starting in August and January. We offer the following programs: General Business Office Assistant, Administrative Assistant, Accounting Specialist and Medical Office Administrative Assistant.
S.M.A.R.T. (Seward Marine and Aerial Robotic Technologies) Alaska is a 501(3)(C) non-profit organization for the purpose of bringing private, public, and local government entities together to promote robotics based businesses and education in Seward, Alaska. We want to make Seward be known as an "Innovation Hub" in Alaska, and to promote new businesses that design, build, operate, maintain, and train operators for such things as unmanned aerial vehicles, remotely operated underwater vehicles, and both land and water surface robotic vehicles. The partnership began with local residents already building businesses in these areas, the Seward Chamber of Commerce, the City of Seward, The Alaska Sealife Center, and AVTEC. Ideally, the goal is to continue to bring in more partners including the Seward Marine Center, The Alaska Railroad, Spring Creek Correctional Center (AK DOC), the National Park Service, The U.S. Forest Service, and many other entities that may benefit from the rapidly growing industry of robotics.
