Christian Brothers College High School is a Lasallian Catholic college preparatory school for young men in St. Louis, Missouri. It is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Saint Louis and is owned and operated by the De La Salle Christian Brothers Midwest District.HistoryEarly years (1850-1916 fire)The school was founded in 1850 under the name St. Joseph's Academy by three French-speaking Christian Brothers who had come to St. Louis the previous year from Montreal, Quebec. In 1851, the school moved from its original location at 16th and Market Streets to 8th and Cerre Streets in downtown St. Louis, and the name changed to the "Academy of the Christian Brothers." In December 1855, the school was granted a college charter, becoming the Brothers' first U.S. institution to operate at the collegiate level.In 1882, due to lack of space, the school moved to the "Cote Brilliante" campus in north St. Louis on the northeast corner of Easton Ave. and N. Kingshighway, where it served as a primary, secondary, and college boarding school for boys. At one point in the 1890s, more than half of St. Louis' clergy were graduates of CBC.On October 5, 1916, a fire destroyed the school, killing seven firefighters, two sick Brothers, and a nurse. Washington University allowed CBC to use the former Smith Academy building for the rest of the academic year.
Saint Louis Priory School is a Catholic independent day school for boys in grades seven through twelve which offers a nationally recognized accelerated curriculum designed to qualify graduates for admission to distinguished colleges and universities and to prepare them to undertake their continuing studies with success. Though the School accepts a percentage of its students from other faiths (about 15 percent of our students are non-Catholic,) it seeks to impart a thorough grounding in the knowledge and practice of the Roman Catholic faith. As a monastery School, Priory places special emphasis on prayer, service to others and the moral development of its students. The School's curriculum is reflective of the Christian humanism which is the mark of the English Benedictine tradition. The school is run by the Benedictine monks of Saint Louis Abbey as part of their religious ministry.HistoryThe school was established in 1955, at the invitation of St. Louis Catholics, by monks of the Benedictine Ampleforth Abbey in Yorkshire, England. The corresponding Priory of Saints Louis and Mary (now Saint Louis Abbey), a Benedictine monastery, was established at the same time. The Priory, which is a member of the English Benedictine Congregation, became independent of Ampleforth in 1973, and was elevated to an Abbey in 1989.The founding Prior (1955–1967) was author, monastic leader and former titular Abbot of Westminster, Reverend Columba Cary-Elwes. The founding headmaster was scholar and author Rev. Timothy Horner, O.S.B., who also founded the school's first athletic team, the Rebel Ruggers.
The Principia is an educational institution for Christian Scientists located on two campuses in the St. Louis, Missouri metropolitan area of the United States. Principia School, located in West St. Louis County, serves students from early childhood through high school and Principia College, located about thirty miles away, is on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River in Elsah, Illinois.HistoryFounded by Mary Kimball Morgan, Principia School was officially opened in 1898 in St. Louis. By 1906, Principia had graduated its first high school class and in 1912, the Junior College was added, becoming one of the first such colleges in America. The year 1917 marked the first graduation ceremony of alumni from the Junior College and in 1934 Principia College awarded its first bachelor's degrees. Principia College moved to Elsah, Illinois in 1935 after distinguished architect Bernard Maybeck had been commissioned to design a new campus for Principians there. Prinicpia School later moved to its current location in the St. Louis suburb of Town and Country, Missouri in 1955.

Our ISACS-accredited curriculum is experiential and aims for the infinite potential of elementary and middle school education — learning that is challenging, significant and meaningful; students who are motivated to reach their potential; and children who know from experience that they can make a difference in the world. Lunches are prepared in a kosher kitchen using only the healthiest locally sourced or organic foods, some grown in the school’s own garden. SMJCS offers a full-day kindergarten, as well as pre-care and post-care. Financial assistance is available. Student transportation is available from University City.
