The Church of the Incarnation is a historic Episcopal church at 205-209 Madison Avenue at the northeast corner of 35th Street in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The church was founded in 1850 as a chapel of Grace Church located at 28th Street and Madison. In 1852, it became an independent parish, and in 1864-85 the parish built its own sanctuary at its current location.Notable parishionersNotable among the parishioners of the church were Admiral David Farragut and Eleanor Roosevelt, who was confirmed in the church. The funeral for the mother of Franklin Delano Roosevelt was held at the church, and a ramp was built so that FDR could attend. Several prominent families had pews and have memorials in the church, including the Delanos, Langdons, Sedgwicks, Seaburys, Brooks, and Rikers families.BuildingsThe sanctuary was built in 1864-1865, and was designed by Emlen T. Littel. It was "distinguished for both its architecture and refined interior decoration and artwork." The cornerstone was laid on March 8, 1864 by Bishop Horatio Potter of the New York Diocese, the first services were held on December 11, and the church was consecrated on April 20, 1865. The church rectory was constructed in 1868-69, designed by Robert Mook.

23rd Street is a local station on the IRT Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. Located at 23rd Street and Seventh Avenue in Chelsea, Manhattan, it is served by the 1 train at all times, and by the 2 train during late night hours.Station layoutThis underground station, which opened on July 1, 1918 and renovated in the 1990s, has two side platforms and four tracks. The two express tracks are used by the 2 and 3 trains during daytime hours.Both platforms have their original mosaic trim line and name tablets of a predominately brown and red color. They also have brown-red i-beam columns at regular intervals with alternating ones having the standard black and white number plate except at either end where they get narrower.Each platform has one same-level fare control area in their center and there are no crossunders or crossovers. The northbound platform has the station's full-time turnstile bank and token booth and two staircases going to either eastern corners of 23rd Street and Seventh Avenue. The Church of St. John the Baptist is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located at 211 West 30th Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues in the Fur District of the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. To the church's rear is the Capuchin Monastery of St. John the Baptist, located at 210 West 31st Street across from Pennsylvania Station and Madison Square Garden.HistoryThe parish was established in 1840 as the second parish to serve German Catholics in New York City, after St. Nicholas' Church, on East 2nd Street, which was established in 1833. An historian noted: "Both German parishes had lay trustees that were so overbearing that they drove out several pastors."The first church erected was a small timber structure. It was dedicated 20 September 1840. The first pastor was the Rev. Zachary Kunze, O.F.M., who, following disharmony with the lay Board of Trustees, resigned in 1844. Kunze left with a portion of the congregation and founded the nearby Church of St. Francis of Assisi. The problems were so great with the Board of Trustees that, following the resignation of Kunze, the parish of St. John the Baptist was under interdict until 1845 when the Rev. J. A. Jakob became its second pastor. More disagreements ensued and the church was again closed in June 1846. It variously reopened with different pastors, but burned down on 10 January 1847.

The Church of the Immaculate Conception and Clergy House at 406-412 East 14th Street between First Avenue and Avenue A in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City were built in 1894-96 by Grace Church, one of the most prominent Episcopal churches in the city at the time. The buildings were a free chapel - meaning there was no pew rent - called Grace Chapel and a connected Grace Hospital, which could serve 16 senior citizens and 10 children, and was physically connected to the chapel by a bridge, so that patients could be wheeled to services.They were designed by Barney and Chapman in French Gothic style. The firm was working at the same time on the Church of the Holy Trinity in Yorkville, which was also designed in the same style. Grace Chapel has stained-glass windows by Clayton & Bell and Henry Holiday. In 1943 both buildings were sold to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, and were converted for the use of the Immaculate Conception Church - founded in 1855 - as a sanctuary and Clergy House.

The Holy Eucharist is celebrated every Sunday at 2 pm in Madison Square Park and generally meets near the south west corner of the park at 23rd Street and Fifth Avenue . The Madison Square Park Congregation was founded on the Day of Pentecost, 2007. The currect pastor is the Rev. James "Seamus" Campbell, an Old Catholic priest part of the Old Catholic Church, Province of the US and assisted by the Rev. Deacon Denise LaVetty of the Episcopal Diocese of New York. Thirty eight souls attended the first Eucharist celebrated in this park on a sunny and pleasantly warm Sunday afternoon. Pastor Clyde welcomed everyone and made introductory remarks. The Rev. David Lewicki officiated and preached. A second meal was provided by members of Marble Collegiate Church, one of our participating ‘housed’ congregations, and everyone enjoyed a real spirit of fellowship. Attendance ranges from a few to twenty-five. Currently, 15 to 25 regular parishioners participate in worship with us weekly. In the event of inclement weather (wet or weather below 32 degrees) or we are displaced by crowds, like the yearly National BBQ which places its major beer tent on our usual site, the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament which offers serving instruction and other tennis tips on our usual site, or the installation of periodic public art projects in the park, the annual Gay Pride March or the Big Apple Bar-b-cue, we move to the garden or Church of the Transfiguration on 29th and between Madison and Fifth Avenues and start the Mass at 2:15 pm Ecclesia Ministries provides a Real Presence of Christ to those on the margins and really invites your presence and your participation. A belief in the consummate return of Jesus Christ in glory to judge the living and the dead, and a belief in the bodily resurrection from the dead of all people and their entrance into either eternal damnation or everlasting blessedness. 7. A belief in the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church as those souls that have been redeemed entirely by the work of Christ and called out of bondage into freedom, out of darkness into light, out of error into truth, out of death into eternal life. 8. A belief that the visible church is best organized under the historic and biblical offices of Bishop, Presbyter, and Deacon; and that the church exists to worship the Triune God and to lift up the Savior Jesus Christ before all people through the faithful preaching and teaching of the Gospel, through prayer, and through the faithful administration of the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion or the Eucharist). 9. A belief in the Historic creeds of the Church as accurate representations of the essence of the Christian faith, and in the Thirty-Nine Articles of the Anglican Church as a coherent and concise expression of Anglican doctrine.

We are a church with a history as long and meandering as the history of European settlement in Manhattan. We are the oldest site of continuous worship in New York City and the burial site of Peter Stuyvesant and other prominent Dutch founding families of New Amsterdam. A St. Mark’s Sunday service is both rooted in the Episcopal tradition and celebratory of the creativity and the diversity of the congregation. Many feel strongly that this balance is what makes the worship meaningful to them. Our congregation is comprised of activists in a number of issues, including issues of racism, gender- identity, and economic justice. We like to be challenged to action in pursuit of justice. We like to hear from leaders in these struggles who can bring us information from other parts of these movements. Our congregation celebrates marriage as gender-neutral and all couples wishing to solemnize their vows are welcome to be wed at St. Mark’s after appropriate pre-marital counseling. St. Mark’s campus includes the Sanctuary, Parish Hall, East Yard, West Yard, and the Ernest Flagg Rectory. Three resident arts projects share the space: • Danspace, which holds performances in the Sanctuary Thursday through Saturday evenings during their season, which generally runs from September through May. It has an office on the second floor of the Sanctuary. • The Poetry Project, which has readings in the Parish Hall on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with workshops on Tuesday and Thursday. It also has an office on the second floor of the Sanctuary and storage space in the basement. • The New York Ballet Theater, which offers classes for children and adults during the day in the former theater space on the second floor of the parish hall.
