Cathedral High School is an all-girls, private, Roman Catholic high school in the borough of Manhattan in New York City. It is located within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York.BackgroundThe school was established in 1905 by the Sisters of Charity. It moved to its current location in 1973. Enrollment is open to young women of all cultures and faiths. There are plenty of college preparatory courses as well as AP classes such as calculus, biology, history, Spanish, English literature and physics. The Church of the Incarnation is a historic Episcopal church at 205-209 Madison Avenue at the northeast corner of 35th Street in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The church was founded in 1850 as a chapel of Grace Church located at 28th Street and Madison. In 1852, it became an independent parish, and in 1864-85 the parish built its own sanctuary at its current location.Notable parishionersNotable among the parishioners of the church were Admiral David Farragut and Eleanor Roosevelt, who was confirmed in the church. The funeral for the mother of Franklin Delano Roosevelt was held at the church, and a ramp was built so that FDR could attend. Several prominent families had pews and have memorials in the church, including the Delanos, Langdons, Sedgwicks, Seaburys, Brooks, and Rikers families.BuildingsThe sanctuary was built in 1864-1865, and was designed by Emlen T. Littel. It was "distinguished for both its architecture and refined interior decoration and artwork." The cornerstone was laid on March 8, 1864 by Bishop Horatio Potter of the New York Diocese, the first services were held on December 11, and the church was consecrated on April 20, 1865. The church rectory was constructed in 1868-69, designed by Robert Mook.

The Armenian Evangelical Church of New York began with prayer meetings organized by Rev. Garabed Nergararian, shortly after his arrival from the Ottoman Empire in 1881. The first Sunday services of our church in New York under its present name, Armenian Evangelical Church, were held on November 14, 1896 at the Adams Memorial Presbyterian Church on East Thirtieth Street. Rev. H. H. Khazoyan, who arrived from Turkey for theological studies, led the initial organization of the church and later became the first pastor. While there were a few Armenians in New York City at the time, the persecutions and massacres of Armenians in Turkey that had begun in 1895 increased migration of Armenians to New York City. The Armenian Genocide of 1915 continued to bring Armenians, who were eager to practice Christianity freely in their new homeland. The decision to purchase the present building on 34th Street was made in November 1921 through a generous donation by the Telfeyan family. For over a hundred years, the Armenian Evangelical Church of New York has been a sanctuary for thousands of Armenians seeking spiritual fulfillment.

Central Presbyterian Church, an Upper East Side church in a dynamic phase of renewal was established in 1821 in a schoolroom on Mulberry Street. Central’s current building was constructed in 1922 as the original home for Park Avenue Baptist Church with funding provided by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Central held its first service at its Park Avenue location on Sunday, September 22, 1929.

Our parish was founded in 1858 by the new religious community of Roman Catholic priests, the Paulist Fathers under the leadership of Father Isaac Thomas Hecker, CSP, who is now Servant of God, the first step to Sainthood. Construction on our beautiful and historic church began in 1876 and completed in 1884. Our Church is decorated by some of the greatest American religious artwork executed by artists such as Robert Reid, William Laurel Harris – and even, a rare copy of one of Michelangelo’s masterpieces. The ceiling is decorated with a star map of January 25, 1885, the date of the Church’s dedication and the Feast of the Conversion of Paul, our patron. The building of our church continues today in the vibrant ministries and many community activities that are held here. Our Loaves & Fishes soup kitchens serves hundreds of people each week, our Winter Shelter provides meals and a warm place for people in need; our outreach ministry with Young Adult Catholics flourishes as does our outreach to Gay & Lesbian Catholics; and, our outreach to Arts & Artists hosts concerts, art exhibits, and visiting choirs. Many community organizations utilize our parish space for classes and meetings. We are the parish for students at Fordham University and The Julliard School. The Paulist Fathers, founded in 1858, is the first community of Roman Catholic priests founded for service in America. The Paulists seek to meet the contemporary culture on its own terms, to present the Gospel message in ways that are compelling but not diluted, so that the fullness of the Catholic faith may lead others to find Christ's deep peace and "unreachable quietness." Paulists do not condemn culture, nor do they try to conform the Gospel to it. Rather, we preach the Gospel in new ways and in new forms, so that the deep spiritual longings of the culture might find fulfillment in Jesus Christ. As the national Cathedral of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, Holy Trinity is the seat of the Archbishop of America and plays a unique roll in the life of the Church in America.
