Camp Downer is a residence camp located in the 705 acre Downer State Forest, between Sharon and South Strafford, Vermont. The facilities at Camp Downer include a swimming pool, boating and fishing pond, fourteen sleeping cabins, a recreation hall, dining hall, crafts and nature cabins, a recreation field, an archery range, a rifle range, basketball/volleyball courts, a disc golf course, a low ropes course and miles of hiking trails. Campers participate in various events in the fields of Aquatics, Arts, Athletics, Nature and Shooting Sports. A sample of activities include, but certainly are not limited to; boating, swimming, water aerobics, crafts, dance, drama, photography, singing, disc golf, basketball, volleyball, assorted lawn and field games, a low ropes course adventure, earth arts, fishing, outdoor living, archery and riflery. Campers come back year after year to meet old friends, make new friends, enjoy campfires, skits, and other traditional fun and games. With a dedicated, experienced camping staff who love teaching new skills as much as the campers love to learn them, Camp Downer hosts more than 140 girls and boys between the ages of 8 and 16 every week of the camping season, from all over Vermont, the U.S. and beyond!
