The Culinary Institute of America—the world’s premier culinary college—is a student’s entrée into an exciting food career. The CIA offers a full menu of food education choices—bachelor’s and associate degrees with majors in food business management, culinary science, applied food studies, culinary arts, and baking and pastry arts, as well as certificate programs in culinary arts and professional wine studies. The CIA serves up its world-class food education at campuses in New York, Texas, California, and Singapore.

Daily planetarium shows and/or Challenger missions are available by making prior reservations with our secretary, Gina Gutierrez at 210-486-0100. Planetarium shows for the public are presented only on Fridays because of the lack of parking during college hours. Public shows are described on this Facebook page. Please note age guidelines.
The associate degree program at San Antonio College is accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE) www.abfse.org, 3414 Ashland, Suite G, St. Joseph, Missouri 64506, (816) 233-3747. Membership is maintained in the University Mortuary Science Education Association. Students achieving the standards for the curriculum are conferred the Associate in Applied Science in Mortuary Science degree by the college and are eligible for examination by the Texas Funeral Service Commission and the International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards and provisional licensure registration.
Visual Arts - San Antonio College. San Antonio, Texas USA Visual Art education is a means for the development of aesthetic sensibility and visual literacy, and allows access for visual learners to higher education. The Visual Arts program at San Antonio College includes the study of Art History, Drawing, Design, Painting, Sculpture, Digital Art, Ceramics, Printmaking, and Photography. Students gain experience and develop confidence in engaging individual creative processes, making judgements that require critical thinking skills, and understanding these means of individual empowerment as a life-long developmental process. The broad range of technique and skill explorations in our classes include classical to contemporary. Visual Arts majors transfer to Universities and Schools of Art throughout Texas and the U.S. to pursue a Baccalaureate degree. The Visual Arts program offers a 60-hour Associate in Arts and transfer credit of ARTS courses. Courses are in accord with the Texas Association of Schools of Art. The Visual Arts program at SAC was started in 1955. The Visual Arts Center opened in 1991 and houses a large gallery exhibition space, art lecture hall, and studios for 2D and 3D art classes. The gallery exhibits local, national, and international professional artists and student work. The Ceramics studios are located at the Koehler Carriage House on the site of the Koehler mansion on the corner of Belknap and Ashby. Online art galleries are an archive of previous exhibits since 1996 and include student and professional artist exhibitions. Visiting lecturer events expose students to nationally and internationally recognized artists, art critics, and art historians.
The Koehler Cultural Center is located on the campus of San Antonio College. The Center was donated to San Antonio College and houses part of the school’s arts department. The Center is also known as the Koehler house/mansion and is a focal point for the educational and social life of the college. It provides a link to the living history of the area, and forms an important part of the architectural heritage of south central Texas.The Center is located at 310 West Ashby, which at the time was considered the “outskirts” of San Antonio. In the late 19th century, the Indian threat prevented the development of the city to the north beyond the San Pedro area. It wasn’t until after the capture of the Apache war chief Geronimo that San Antonio real estate developers started building in this area, where Midtown and Uptown San Antonio now stand.Otto Koehler originally built the mansion in 1901-1902, utilizing the services of Carol von Seutter as the chief architect of the mansion. Mr. Koehler came to San Antonio in 1884 and was one of the organizers of the San Antonio Brewing Association, now known as Pearl Brewing Company. According to legend, Koehler selected the spot due to its unobstructed view of his brewery, and could determine whether or not his employees were hard at work by the color of the smoke coming from the smokestacks. This Victorian style mansion is a good example of the eclectic architectural style that was popular during the late 19th century and early 20th century.

The San Antonio College - Communication Design program provides general education and career training with courses in Basic Graphic Design, Digital Imaging, Computer Illustration, Typography, Animation, Visual Design, Communication Design, Typographic Design, Portfolio Development and Internship. These courses lead to a one-year Certificate and a two-year AAS Degree. Students gain valuable hands-on experience with current industry standard hardware and software in a modern facility with design studios and 4 classrooms of iMac computer workstations. Graduates produce design portfolios that can be used to apply for internships, entry-level jobs and admission into upper-level academic study. Communication Design program courses prepare students for careers as Graphic Designers, Web Developers, Multimedia Artists and Animators, Art Directors, Prepress Technicians and Desktop Publishers.
Open to all San Antonio College students with an interest in learning more about the field of sociology and meeting people with similar interest. Members must be enrolled with a minimum of three semester hours, maintain academic standing and must not be on academic or disciplinary probation. All members are required to adhere to the student code of conduct as outlined in the college bulletin. Membership must not be denied on basis of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, marital status, and physical abilities. Students currently enrolled at other Alamo College campuses may become members however they may not run for office or a hold leadership position. The sociology club must maintain a minimum of five active student members (one of which must serve as president). Activities to accomplish the goals of the club may include, but are not limited to: • Inviting guest lecturers to the college campus • Promoting panel discussion concerning sociological issues by members of the Sociology Club • Promoting social events • Participating in on-campus and off-campus fundraising activities • Volunteering in the community

San Antonio College Law Enforcement Training Academy has entered its 40th year of operation as an Academy licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). Since its beginning, the Academy has provided certified training for licensure as a peace officer in the State of Texas. The current basic peace officer course consists of 688 hours of training. Successful completion of the course allows the student to sit for the state peace officer licensing exam. The Academy graduates over 250 Cadets each year and provides in-service training and continuing education courses for police officers in the field. Our Basic Peace officer Academy is 11 months long. We offer weekend courses on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 5pm. It's a two day course, or we also offer Monday through Thursday classes from 9am to 1pm or 6pm -10pm. At Travis Early College High School, education is focused around a single goal: college. We put students from around Bexar County on the fast-track to higher education by allowing them to take challenging high school and college courses that lead to a high school diploma and up to two years of college credit from our partner, neighboring San Antonio College. Some students graduate with an associate degree – and it’s all free of cost to the students and their families. Goal-oriented students from varying academic backgrounds who meet our admission criteria come to us with hard work and determination, and we give them a strong support system to ensure success as they navigate the dual worlds of high school and college. The goals of Travis Early College High School are to: • Increase student achievement; • Increase the number of students who graduate from high school college-ready; • Increase Advanced Placement, associate degree, dual credit and concurrent enrollment participation, as well as enrollment in rigorous coursework in a college-preparatory curriculum and • Increase the college success of students as demonstrated through persistence of students in college.
