Renaissance Tower is a 886ft, 56-story modernist skyscraper at 1201 Elm Street in downtown Dallas, in the U.S. state of Texas. The tower is the second-tallest in the city, the fifth-tallest in Texas, and the 24th-tallest in the United States. Renaissance Tower was designed by the architectural firm Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum, completed in 1974, and renovated by architects Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in 1986. Major tenants include Neiman Marcus Group, Southwest Securities and Godwin Lewis PC.HistoryAt the time of completion in 1974, it was the tallest building in Dallas at 710ft and was originally known as the First International Bancshares Tower . In 1985, it was surpassed by Fountain Place and Bank of America Plaza, which became Dallas's tallest building. It was also clear that Renaissance Tower would be overtaken by Comerica Bank Tower and Chase Tower then under construction. Therefore, in order to regain some status, the building underwent a major renovation in 1986 that included a re-glazed exterior and removal of the lighting on its sides. In 1986, James T. Chiles was brought in by the owner, the Prudential Insurance Company of America to design the broadcast center and towers on top the building, one of which was 176ft. This brought the structural height of the building up to 886ft, securing its place as the second-tallest building in Dallas. Excluding antennas and spires, the Renaissance Tower is the fifth-tallest.

Main Street Garden Park is a 1.75acre public park located in downtown Dallas, Texas, United States The $17.4 million park was primarily funded through the City of Dallas’ 2003 and 2006 bond programs and is the first of several planned downtown core parks, including Pacific Plaza Park and Belo Garden Park. Main Street Garden replaced Pegasus Plaza as the site for major downtown events throughout the year.HistoryThe downtown block, which previously consisted of early commercial structures and parking facilities, was cleared in 2007. Construction began in November 2008 and the park was dedicated November 11, 2009 with a public celebration on November 21, 2009.Main Street Garden Park was designed by Thomas Balsley Associates, a NYC-based Landscape Architecture firm.LocationMain Street Garden Park is surrounded by St. Paul, Main, Harwood and Commerce streets in the Main Street District. It is located within the Harwood Historic District, which includes surrounding structures such as the Dallas Hotel Indigo, Titche-Goettinger Building, Dallas Municipal Building and more. Other surrounding structures include the Mercantile National Bank Building, Dallas Statler Hilton and Old Dallas Central Library.
The Titche-Goettinger Building is one of Dallas' original broad-front department stores located along St. Paul Street between Main and Elm Street in downtown Dallas, Texas (USA). The structure currently houses apartments, retail space, and the Universities Center at Dallas. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a contributing property in the Harwood Historic District and Main Street District. It is also located across the street from Main Street Garden Park.HistoryIn 1902, Edward Titche formed a partnership with Max Goettinger and the two established Titche-Goettinger, a department store, on the southeast corner of Elm and Murphy Streets in downtown Dallas. By 1904, operations had outgrown the Elm/Murphy location and the store moved to the year-old Wilson Building. By 1928, the store had again outgrown itself and construction began on a new building two blocks east in an area known as "Uptown".Located along St. Paul between Elm and Main, the new flagship building designed by noted architect George Dahl opened in November 1929 as one of the largest department stores in the Southwest. It consisted of seven floors plus basement and sub-basement. The exterior was clad in Indiana Limestone with Italian Florentine detail in Renaissance Revival style, while the inside featured Art Deco design elements.
Pacific Place is a Class-A skyscraper located at 1910 Pacific Avenue in the City Center District of Dallas, Texas. The structure contains 20 floors of office space and stands adjacent to the historic Majestic Theatre. It is connected to the Dallas Pedestrian Network and sits across Pacific Avenue from Aston Park and the proposed Pacific Plaza Park. It lies within the Harwood Historic District, but it not a contributing structure.HistoryPacific Place, constructed of steel, masonry and purple reflective glass, opened in 1982 as a multi-tenant office tower. It was constructed on the site of the historic 1921 Melba Theatre, one of several theaters along Elm Street's Theater Row, and an adjacent parking structure. Its narrow building site resulted in recessed courtyard entrances on both Elm Street and Pacific Avenue, while the angled facade provided multiple corner offices and allowed light to reach the neighboring Corrigan Tower. The second level of the building was connected via skywalk to the Dallas Pedestrian Network, providing access to parking and retail facilities. The building suffered high vacancy rates due to the economic recession of the 2000s. By 2008 the doors were closed, although the building's public spaces were still well-maintained. Several proposals were developed, including a study to converted the building into 198 residential units. The building sold in April 2010 to Boxer Property for $5.3 million. Following renovation, it reopened for leasing in April 2012.
