Bayside Marketplace is a festival marketplace in Downtown Miami, Florida. It is located between the Bayfront Park to the south end, and the American Airlines Arena to the north. As Bayside's name suggests, it wraps along the banks of the Biscayne Bay.The entertainment complex opened in 1987, during a major real estate boom in Miami. Instead of being planned to revitalize a specific area as its sister properties had, Bayside complements an existing marina. The shopping center was frequently featured on the crime drama TV series, Miami Vice. The center attracts fifteen million people on average annually. It is served by the Metrorail at the Government Center, and directly by the Metromover at College/Bayside station.Chicago-based General Growth Properties manages and owns Bayside Marketplace.Anchors and Major Stores BabyGap Brookstone Champs Sports Disney Store Foot Locker Photo Bomb GameStop Magic Hut Perfumania SKECHERS Sleefs Sunglass Hut Victoria's Secret Wet Seal

Ten Museum Park is a residential skyscraper in the City of Miami, Florida, United States. It is located in northeastern Downtown, on Biscayne Bay along the west side of Biscayne Boulevard. It was designed by Chad Oppenheim of Oppenheim Architecture + Design. Completed in early 2007, it opened for residential occupancy in mid-2007. The building is 585ft tall, and has 50 floors with only 200 units, making it an exclusive address. The building itself is designed to reflect the heat from the sun while still keeping warmth, the building is also designed to withstand 140 mph winds. It currently stands as the 13th-tallest building in Miami.Ten Museum Park contains 20,000 square feet (1,858 m²) of Class A office space, retail space on the lower floors, and residential condominium units, which occupy most of the space on the upper floors. While appearing to be a typical skyscraper with identical floorplates, the residential levels are varying. The east-facing units are interlocking lofts, providing each unit with an eastern view and either a north or south-facing view as well. Lower level west-facing units are shallow flats with large expanses of glass. Upper levels of the building contain either double-height spaces or three-floor loft arrangements. Some units feature independent soaking pools. The lower levels of Ten Museum Park hold a lifestyle development; the building notably contains a Clinique La Prairie spa, the first in the United States, as well as several high-end boutiques in its lobby. It is directly across the street from the Marquis tower. The building's grand opening occurred in February 2007; Ten Museum Park is one of the many new Miami skyscrapers that were completed and opened in the year 2007.

The City of Miami Cemetery is a historic cemetery in Miami, Florida, United States. It is located at 1800 Northeast 2nd Avenue. On January 4, 1989, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.HistoryAt that time it was located one half mile north of the city limits on a narrow wagon track county road created in 1897, a year after the City of Miami was incorporated by 100 men. African-Americans and black Bahamians made up one-third of the City's incorporators. The first burial, not recorded, was of an elderly black man on July 14, 1897. The first recorded burial of a white man was H. Graham Branscomb, a 24-year-old Englishman on July 20, 1897 from consumption. From its inception, the historic cemetery was subdivided with whites on the east end and the blacks population on the west end.Blacks provided the primary labor force for building of Miami but were confined by clauses in land deeds to the north west section of Miami now known as Overtown In 1915, the Beth David congregation began a Jewish section. Two other prominent sections are the circles: the first to Julia Tuttle, the "Mother of Miami" buried in 1898; the second, a memorial to the Confederate Dead erected by the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Sixty-six Confederate and twenty-seven Union veterans are buried here. Other sections include a Catholic section, American Legion, Spanish–American War, and two military sections along the north and south fence lines. Among the 9,000 burials are pioneer families such as the Burdines, Peacocks and Dr. James Jackson. This site has the only known five oolitic (limestone) gravestone worldwide. These and the unique tropical plants make this a tropical oasis.

Fort Dallas was a military base during the Seminole Wars, located on the banks of the Miami River in what is now downtown, Miami, Florida, United States.HistoryOld Fort Dallas was established on the plantation of Richard Fitzpatrick in 1836 as a United States military post and cantonment (and not as a fortification, although it is more than probable that there was a stockade surrounding it in its early days) in southern Florida during the Seminole Wars. It was named in honor of Commodore Alexander James Dallas, United States Navy, then in command of the United States naval forces in the West Indies. The first commandant was Lieutenant F. M. Powell, who remained in command about two years. From 1836 to 1857 it was occupied much of the time by troops, but was not a military reservation. Quite a number of buildings were erected, and today only two remain. In addition to these, there were a dozen comfortable dwellings besides the slave quarters, stables, and a blacksmith forge. The Post Surgeon occasionally took meteorological observations.Fort Dallas remained in Union hands during the American Civil War and was abandoned afterward. During the war, the place was occupied by refugees from many places, and at the close of the war by a band of desperadoes. Judah P. Benjamin, who served as Attorney General, Secretary of War, and Secretary of State for the Confederacy, made his escape to Cuba through Indian River and Bay Biscayne. In describing the trip, he refers to the rough treatment he received at the hands of occupants of the fort, but, he added that it was a beautiful and picturesque spot, with its white houses and fine parade ground. The interior of the fort has been improved, and care has been taken to preserve the exterior unchanged.
