During May 2013, some of the city’s most renowned restaurateurs bring the spice with their latest concept in Midtown. Couscous offers Atlanta a new neighborhood restaurant serving fresh, international cuisine in a casual and inviting atmosphere. Located along the Atlanta BeltLine adjacent to Piedmont Park, the eatery plans to debuted to soft opening last week and is open now. Led by a diverse team of industry veterans, Couscous features a variety of innovative elements. Chief among them is the restaurant’s dual-chef-driven kitchen. Chefs Khaled Chebbi and Lotfi Chabaane collaborate on a menu of accessible, Mediterranean-inspired dishes that appeal to all palates. Tunisian-born Chebbi leads efforts as executive chef and infuses the traditional fare of his childhood into his recipes. Developing a passion for food at an early age, Chebbi honed his craft under culinary influencers across the globe. He has since worked in Atlanta with such prestigious entities as Mid City Cuisine, Carpe Diem and chefs Richard Wilt and Robert Phalen. A creative and passionate chef, Chebbi focuses on fresh, simple and organic ingredients at Couscous. As consultant chef, Chabaane brings extensive knowledge to the Couscous team. His international experience across Europe and with high-volume destinations, including stints on the Queen Elizabeth II and restaurants in Florida and Bermuda, gives him a unique perspective. Chabaane knows the business comprehensively, having served in every position in both front- and back-of-house operations. His finesse and seasoned approach are the ideal complement to Chebbi’s eye for innovation. The final piece of the Couscous culinary trifecta is owner and general manager Haykel Arfaoui. His financial background helps lead the restaurant’s infrastructure, and his success is evident in the operation of Perla Taqueria since 2010. A 15-year industry veteran, Arfaoui considers the business more than simply his career; it is his way of life. “We really wanted to create a cozy café-style restaurant with quality cuisine,” said Arfaoui. “And with these chefs at the helm, we’ve got an interesting menu that is rich and diverse, without being intimidating. At Couscous, guests can enjoy global flavors without leaving the city – or breaking the bank.” A welcoming ambiance greets diners as they enter the restaurant. Friendly servers guide guests as they then peruse the menu of urban, Mediterranean-American plates and a curated wine list featuring unique selections from around the world. Menu highlights include the signature couscous, served as an everyday pairing for the chefs’ creations. Other standout dishes include a classic BLT burger, traditional falafel and house-made mergez, a North African lamb sausage. Each meal incorporates fresh, healthy ingredients and aims to present authentic cuisine in a familiar way, making flavors accessible to every diner. Home to a picturesque patio, Couscous is located at 560 Dutch Valley Road, Suite 100. It is open Sunday through Thursday from 5pm to 10pm and Friday through Saturday from 5pm to 11pm. The restaurant serves Sunday brunch from 11am to 3pm, and the bar is open late nightly. Guests may enjoy complimentary onsite parking and may make reservations for parties of five or more. A Family Friendly, Fashion Forward, Neighborhood Focused Southern Latin Fusion Restaurant from Chef Calavino Donati (Roman Lily Cafe, Urban Cannibals) Madre + Mason's heart is not just in its food but also in the community created around its food. Walking into Madre will be like coming home to the smells and sounds of your family’s kitchen with its simple, satisfying and familiar dishes and the organized bustle of a busy stove. Our offerings are an innovative marriage of Southern classics with Latin flavors and staples like Cumin Lime Buttermilk Brined Fried Chicken, Turkey Poblano Meatloaf with Jalapeno Tequila Gravy, Local Green Tomato Gazpacho, Ancho Collard Greens, Pulled Pork Arepas for lunch, Chipotle Cheddar Biscuits at brunch and Sweet Potato Flan for dessert. Additionally, our menu will offer lighter fare like South American Quinoa based salads and a host of hearty vegetarian and vegan entrees, sandwiches, sides, and appetizers not normally found on either Southern or Latin inspired menus. We’ll also offer a variety of “street food” inspired to go lunches + fresh fruit galletas for those wanting to enjoy the nearby Beltline and Piedmont Park. Social gatherings at Madre will foster a sense community by encouraging guests to really get to know their neighbors through a series of carefully curated events like tequila and South American wine tastings along with Day of the Dead and other Latin Feast Day dinners as well as Brazilian Asados with open fire, hearth roasted savories. We’re also proposing to “adopt” and sponsor a section of the Beltline for community cleanups to get nearby Midtown residents even more invested in the growth of the city and the success of our business. And, like all the restaurants under the We Serve People, Inc banner, where food and philanthropy go hand in hand, Madre will also be a community partner and advocate in addressing issues of food insecurity in the segment of the population it hits the hardest: mothers and their children. “Madre Mondays” will be our community outreach day for organizations working to serve the underserved. With its proximity to outdoor, work and living spaces and the availability of three unique spaces within the restaurant, we’re looking to make Madre a place for guests to unwind or revive, connect with friends and family or co-workers or simply be the place where they start and end their days because Madre + Mason equals the home + the heart.
