COMPANY Granite City has won awards nationwide for Best Restaurant, Best Brunch, Best Patio, Best Beer, Best Martini, Best Burger, and more, including the prestigious Nation’s Restaurant News Hot Concept Winner. Granite City is passionate about creating fresh menu items from scratch and uses its patented brewing process to deliver the best brews. Granite City Food & Brewery is a polished casual restaurant with an on-site brewery. The on-site brewery, with award-winning hand crafted micro-brews, is visible from the main dining and bar areas. The restaurants also showcase an open kitchen featuring chef developed, handcrafted made-from-scratch cuisine, including innovative signature entrees, flatbreads and more. Granite City Food & Brewery’s signature brews, which are made on-site, include The Duke (Pale Ale), The Bennie (Bock), The Batch 1000 (Double IPA), The Northern (American Style Light Lager) and The Stout. Seasonal brews are featured throughout the year. The handcrafted beers –also available in growlers - are moderately priced and offer unique styles and flavors not typically produced by major breweries. The patented brewing process, known as Fermentus InterruptusTM, makes replicating the same great taste simple and efficient throughout all Granite City Food and Brewery restaurants. WHAT'S IN A NAME? Granite City is the nickname of our hometown of St. Cloud, Minnesota - one of the great granite capitals of the world. Back in the 1880’s, quarrying was hard, thirsty work. For miners of Northern European ancestry, that meant beer. So family breweries sprang up. They know the secrets of making beer to match the flavor of food made from scratch. With prohibition, the breweries all but vanished. But the spirit of Granite City is alive and well. Just look around you and raise a glass - To fresh made food, beer fresh brewed and all the delicious things in life! OUR PATENTED BREWING PROCESS: Shortly before we opened our third store, we launched our patented brewing process, Fermentus Interruptus™, which makes micro brewing for multiple locations more efficient. This process, conceived and designed by Mr. Burdick, allows us to ship sweet liquid called wort, from our central brewing facility to individual stores. When this liquid reaches the stores, we begin the fermentation process and complete the brewing. We use Fermentus Interruptus at all of our Granite City Food & Brewery® locations.

Leading the kitchen will be executive chef Robert Scherer, 27, a Grosse Pointe Woods native who previously was executive sous chef at Emeril Lagasse's New Orleans Fish House in Las Vegas.

Located at the intersection of muscle and brains, Opportunity Detroit is a movement that aims to showcase Detroit’s exciting present and promising future by creating an urban environment that attracts businesses, residents and visitors. Opportunity Detroit highlights the many assets that make Detroit the exceptional city that it is. An international riverfront, a vibrant downtown, a talented and resilient population, countless entertainment options and an unwavering entrepreneurial spirit drive economic growth in the city. In order to achieve our mission, we strive to dramatically change the national perception of the city of Detroit. Opportunity Detroit is not only exclusive to Rock Ventures and the Family of Companies. It’s an all-inclusive campaign that includes other businesses, the citizens of the city of Detroit and newcomers. The key pillars of this movement include: Business Attraction and Job Creation o We want to make Detroit a desirable destination for prospective businesses. This includes recruiting talent nationwide and halting the exodus of talented professionals from Michigan. Creating an environment where entrepreneurs can thrive will produce jobs that attract talent and equip Detroit with a diverse economy that will help the city thrive in the 21st century. Renovations Galore o The influx of jobs will require state-of-the-art commercial space, and we intend to have space readily available. Renovations to parks, neighborhoods, and the riverfront will help attract new residents and visitors alike. Residential Expansion o Simply put, the demand outweighs the supply for housing in the city’s 7.2 square miles of the downtown area. The momentum is not slowing and this collaborative effort will ensure that attractive, cutting-edge living options are available for newcomers. Philanthropic Efforts o The entire community is vital to the sustainability of the city’s revitalization efforts. We’re aggressively supporting causes that will have a positive impact on residents and creating a culture where people are eager to volunteer for the betterment of this community. Event Attraction o Whether it’s the North American International Auto Show, IndyCar’s Dual in Detroit, the Super Bowl, or the Final Four … Detroit knows how to host big events. And we want the opportunity to host more events, and showcase the city to national and international audiences alike! The revitalization of this great American city is happening, and it's happening now! Be a part of it! If you want to see what opportunity looks like, visit OpportunityDetroit.com.
