The Boro School offers the unique experience of learning the art of lampworking with some of the greatest masters in the industry! Owned by Nathan Aweida, a long respected member of the borosilicate glass community. Our school is focused strictly on this unique glass. Located in the space of Seattle's renowned 7 Point Studios, we offer a full curriculum of lampworking classes for beginning to advanced students. We sell raw glass supplies, rent out torch time by the hour, and offer memberships. We also hold a monthly gathering for lampworkers called Community Day, every 2nd Saturday of the month from 12-6pm. ARTS at Seattle U is a community of student artists pursuing careers in Visual Arts, Art History, Theatre, Choral Music, Instrumental Music, Interdisciplinary Arts, and Arts Leadership. We are located at 901 12th Avenue, Fine Arts Building, Seattle, WA 98122. Our ARTS community is comprised of the Seattle U Art and Art History Department and the Performing Arts and Arts Leadership Department. Students majoring in the arts experience the highest level of creativity working alongside faculty who are all professional artists working in their fields. The Art and Art History Department offers dynamic programs in Art History, Studio Art, Digital Design, Visual Art, and Photography. The department is also pleased to welcome guest artists and visiting scholars into the curriculum. Our three on-campus galleries feature a vibrant exhibition series which celebrates student, faculty, and guest artworks. The Performing Art and Arts Leadership Department offers degrees in Theatre, String Performance, Interdisciplinary Arts, and Arts Leadership. The department invites guest artists and visiting scholars into the curriculum with residencies and concert performances. Additionally, students gain performance experience in a variety of venues on and off campus, bringing vibrant Seattle U arts programming into the community.
The mission of METHOD is to foster and exhibit sculpture and installation that regards process, material, and concept, while engaging the gallery space. Founded in 1972 Glasshouse Studio is the oldest glassblowing studio in the Northwest. Located in Seattle's historic Pioneer Square, the studio does daily glassblowing demonstrations. The gallery houses a large selection of glass art with an emphasis on custom lighting, featuring work by Glasshouse owner and artist Christopher Sternberg Powidzki as well as guest artists from around the Northwest. Glasshouse Studio's work can been seen at over 300 galleries in the US as well as numerous public and private collections.
