Pan Bon is born from the clear vision of two brothers, Luciano and Giancarlo Anselmi, and their over 30-year experience with the production of Italian bread and pastries using the renowned cooking method with "lievito madre”. The Anselmi Brothers story begins in the city of Verona, Italy, most known for being the inspiration for Shakespeare’s book Romeo and Juliet. In Verona, the brothers own a bakery of the same name “Pan Bon” (in the Italian dialect from Verona, Pan Bon means “good bread”) which has gained them their notoriety throughout Italy’s food industry. A few years ago, the brothers came to San Diego on vacation and fell in love with America’s finest city. They began the journey to develop a new restaurant concept which would incorporate their famous Italian bakery and the production of quality, healthy food. The idea is to introduce San Diegans to the “take out” gastronomy made in Italy. Luciano and Giancarlo Anselmi explain that “Pan Bon is a warm, inviting restaurant designed to make our customers feel as if they are enjoying VIP services in a world all to themselves.” The unique state of the art show-kitchen concept designed by CierreEsse, Italian prime design company, is aimed to entertain customers with the sizzling rituals of our Italian chefs preparing delicious breads, pastries, and main courses. The energy and atmosphere of the restaurant is vibrant. Pan Bon will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Sunday and, of course, "take-out" food for those on the run! Juicy steaks and roasted chicken cooked to perfection are some of the delicious plates on the menu. Mouth watering panini (Italian sandwiches) and oven-cooked pizzas made with prime Italian ingredients are some other menu options. The menu will also include fresh grilled seafoods, healthy salads, soups, appetizers, and flaming desserts. From the bar, patrons will be able to order a wide range of American and Italian wines (mostly Verona wines: Ripasso, Amarone, Recioto, etc.) and beers; including the most popular microbrews. Pan Bon is considered a refreshing escape from restaurants with a routinely custom of service. Our goal is to leave the complete freedom to enjoy a blend of exquisite Italian food while sitting in a casual but elegant and modern place, reminiscent of a perfect Italian day or night out.

There was a time, perhaps not so long ago, when the public looked up to, idealized, and cared about things like public libraries, old time radio programs, good neighbors, unbiased news papers, intelligent conversation, friends and family. People wanted a simple quality life, and struggled valiantly to get it. Times have changed in recent years, and commodities of scale and nationalized mass production have altered the public consciousness to make each of us demand more while expecting less. Our popular culture is marred by the hand of an ever present mass media machine, an advocate for constant consumption, tempting the masses with the false promise of happiness via the almighty purchase. However, there is a quiet argument that can be heard approaching from the dark alleys and small rooms across this country. People are beginning to see beyond the scope of the billboards and magazine headlines that have for so long clouded their perspective. Slowly, we are starting to see what was muddled by all the clutter. We begin to recognize the need for better products, products that fulfill needs instead of creating them. We begin to recognize the need for social conversations, the need for better conversations, the need for real values, the need to read more and watch less. And if the streets are quiet enough and if you are listening closely, you will hear the voice of the people in a unified, steady resonance. You will hear them call for change. You will hear them call for good. You will hear them expect more, and demand less.

When restaurateur Scott Harris decided to open his latest restaurant concept, he and the team of chefs from Francesca’s Restaurants did their research. Although already experts in their own right for rustic, Italian cuisine in Chicago, the chefs traveled across the country, eating and tasting to discover how chefs nationwide defined this cuisine. Inspired by their travels, the team is proud to introduce the new wine bar and restaurant: Davanti Enoteca with two locations, Little Italy and Del Mar Highlands. Davanti Enoteca carries the theme of our cuisine of simple Italian fare throughout the décor of the rustic wine bar and restaurant. We do not accept reservations at Davanti Walk-ins only Davanti Brunch Every Saturday and Sunday from 10-2 featuring our Build your own Bloody Bar!
