Studio No. 7 is a flexible creative space in downtown Atlanta. We house an art gallery, cafe, bar and two outdoor spaces. Founded in 1973 as Nexus, a grassroots artists’ cooperative, Atlanta Contemporary has since become one of the southeast’s leading contemporary art centers. We play a vital role in Atlanta’s cultural landscape by presenting six–10 exhibitions within four seasonal cycles each year, featuring consequential artists from the local, national, and international art scenes. We are one of the few local institutions that commissions new works by artists, paying particular attention to artists of note who have not had a significant exhibition in the Southeast. We organize 50+ diverse educational offerings annually, unrivaled by other local organizations of our size. We are the only local organization to provide on-site subsidized studio space to working artists through our Studio Artist Program, removing cost as a barrier to the creative process.

Opened in 2006 in the Midtown neighborhood of Atlanta, Beep Beep Gallery was owned and operated by Mark Basehore and James McConnell. The DIY styled art space features a variety of artists, while maintaining a focus on spotlighting new work by local emerging talent. In addition to the gallery space, Beep Beep also organized Artlantis , an annual arts and music festival in Poncey-Highland, and Four Coats , an annual mural project with galleries Whitespace , Marcia Wood and Get This! . Over the span of ten years we’ve been written about in a number of local and national publications including the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Paste Magazine, Art Voices, Indie Travel Guide Amerika (based in Germany) and been named Best Gallery and Best Gallery Spotlighting Local Artists (Creative Loafing), and Best Indie Gallery (Atlanta Magazine). The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is the lead agency entrusted by the people of the State of Georgia with the ultimate responsibility for the health of communities and the entire population. First created as the State Board of Health in 1875, Public Health became its own department in 1931 until it was consolidated within the Department of Human Resources by then-Governor Jimmy Carter in 1972. More than 30 years later, Public Health was moved under the Department of Community Health. In 2011, the General Assembly restored DPH to its own state agency. At the state level, DPH is divided into numerous divisions, sections, programs and offices, and at the local level, DPH functions via 18 health districts and 159 county health departments. Through the changes, the mission has remained constant – to protect the lives of all Georgians. The Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency (AFCEMA) is the lead county organization responsible for providing management and coordination of mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery activities within its area of responsibility. This is accomplished via hazard mitigation as well as preparation and response planning done in partnership with City/County agencies, regional and state level partners, non-profit entities, schools and the private sector. Additionally, AFCEMA is also responsible for; Developing and maintaining the County’s local emergency operation plan (LEOP) in partnership with the various agencies that represent the core emergency support functions. Coordinating and implementing plans and programs to help prevent or lessen the impact of emergencies and disasters. Maintaining the Multi-Agency Coordination Center in a state of readiness. Overseeing the management of the Multi-Agency Coordination Center during emergency activations. Providing situational awareness to elected officials and senior administrators. Coordinating all emergency management activities, services and programs. Functioning as the official liaison to the Georgia Emergency Management Agency and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as well as any other public/private agencies and organizations involved in emergency response What We Do: AFCEMA is the coordinating agency in the event of a disaster in Fulton County. Whether it is a large fire, a hazardous material spill or an ice-storm, AFCEMA is responsible for making sure that all responding agencies - such as police, fire and EMS - have the resources they need to do their job. Planning The Planning Division is responsible for disaster planning in the County. The Local Emergency Operations Plan (LEOP) is the main priority, as it is the overarching guideline for how county agencies will respond in disasters. Community Awareness and Public Education is also a large part of Planning’s role. Operations The Operations Division runs the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during disasters, and possible disasters. Operations’ also conducts training and exercises or any agency that would be involved in a disaster response such as police, fire, public works and hospitals.
