The current incarnation of Rowes Wharf is a modern development in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. It is best known for the Boston Harbor Hotel's multi-story arch over the wide public plaza between Atlantic Avenue and the Boston Harbor waterfront. Along the waterfront can be found a marina, restaurants, a water transportation terminal, and a floating stage offering free concerts and movies during the summer.MBTA boat services link the wharf to Hingham, while water taxis operate to and from Logan International Airport. Cruise boats also operate from the wharf.History18th centuryIn 1666 a protective battery called the "Sconce", or the "South Battery", was built at the foot of Fort Hill in the area now known as Rowes Wharf. In peacetime, the Battery had a company assigned to it in case of invasion, but had only one gunner. During the 1740s, the Battery was extended into the harbor and was defended by thirty-five guns. In 1764, John Rowe bought the land and built the first Rowes Wharf, which extended a short distance into Boston Harbor, and in 1765 Foster's Wharf was built on the site of the old Battery.Foster's Wharf was originally called "Apthorp's Wharf". Charles Apthorp, being a staunch Tory, backed the losing side in the American Revolution, and it was his confiscated land and wharf that merchant William Foster bought for 6,266 pounds, 12 shillings in May 1782. Rowes Wharf, however, has carried its original builder's name since its inception. For the next 150 years or so, commercial shipping continued to be a main user of the area.

Located at Fan Pier in Boston's beautiful Seaport District, Strega Waterfront is certainly Boston's foremost dining destination with breathtaking oceanfront views, dazzling interiors and a new twist on Italian cuisine.
Draw a dynamic gathering of city dwellers, suburbanites, tourists and professionals. Unite them in an intimate yet high-energy restaurant by Boston’s waterfront. Add hand-crafted cocktails and imaginative Mediterranean fare into the mix. And you’ve got Committee—a dining spot that adds a fresh culinary spark to the Fan Pier area. Committee draws its namesake from the Prohibition Era—a wild ride of bootlegging and hotsy totsy; fakeloo’s and fuzz; gladrags and grifters. But instead of fast and loose, Committee is a laid-back, convivial gathering spot that feels like one great big cocktail party, with people coming together over sharable plates. The space features modern industrial design, a gleaming bar in the center, and a hip scene where people flow in and out, gathering at tables and chilling around the bar. Committee veers from the expected by designing its menu around “Meze”—a dining concept that encourages people to sample, share, converse, and delight. Our creative chefs prepare small sharable plates that are brought to the table throughout the meal and allow diners to experience a wide range of dishes featuring only the freshest local ingredients. As food is served and savored, eyes are drawn to the bartenders who turn cocktail-making into performance art. They buzz about their spacious domain, crafting colorful libations that blend fresh, contemporary ingredients with a splash of Boston nostalgia. The people, the fare, the location, the scene—it all combines to make Committee a meeting of gregarious minds.
