CID is a school where children who are deaf and hard of hearing learn to listen, talk, read and succeed. We serve families and their children birth-age 12 and provide educational resources for listening and spoken language professionals.
We rely heavily on volunteers, foster families and donations to continue rescuing stray dogs and cats from East St. Louis. We are currently raising money to build a shelter, low clost spay/neuter clinic, and education center in East St. Louis. People unite around food - sharing meals and memories with family, friends, and neighbors. Our community should have access to healthy, fresh, and affordable choices to fuel our bodies and minds. And we can make this happen! City Greens Market sells products from local Missouri and Illinois farmers. And it's all sold AT COST. How are we able to do so? With the support of our members! We need your support! Our non-profit organization is supported through memberships. Houesholds with higher incomes (over $30,000) pay an annual membership donation, while families with lower incomes (under $30,000) join as members without donating. Then everybody shops at the same prices - AT COST! Instead of marking up our products to make a profit, our paid members make the profit for us. Family P.R.I.D.E. (Parental Resources, Infant Development and Environment), Midtown's outreach to pregnant moms and parents of newborns and toddlers is 15 years old in 2008. The program was designed to provide support and resources to new parents and families where healthy births were a concern. Since its beginnings many healthy babies have been born. In 2008, Midtown was established as a "Pregnancy Resource Center" allowing a focus on pregnant moms, especially adolescents. A library of books for moms and kids was established. Also, a monthly store is available to participants where they may receive diapers, developmental toys and books, bus tickets, children's clothing or other needed items. At Midtown, there is a celebration of life everyday!
Mental Health, Social Services, Senior Center meals, transportation & socialization, benefits assistance & ESL education are offered. Services to children, adults and seniors are available in over 40 languages.
Kappa Epsilon (KΕ) is a professional pharmacy fraternity for women founded by Zada M. Cooper on May 13, 1921. It was founded with the purpose of uniting female pharmacy students in an era when women were a minority in the profession. Today, KE has 38 collegiate chapters and 10 alumni chapters. Over 20,000 people have been initiated into KE since its founding. Kappa Epsilon's National Project is the promotion of breast cancer awareness. Many KE chapters participate in the Race for the Cure or Relay For Life. KE chapters are also encouraged to promote awareness of other women's health issues KE has had an important impact on the profession of pharmacy, especially women in pharmacy, for over 80 years through supporting personal and professional development, providing networking opportunities, promoting pharmacy as a career, and participating in various breast cancer awareness efforts. The Alpha Omicron chapter at STLCOP was founded on May 9, 1980. The sisters of the Alpha Omicron Chapter of Kappa Epsilon at St. Louis College of Pharmacy are professional women of pharmacy. Currently, there are over 80 active members in our chapter who participate in many philanthropy events such as Relay for Life, Race for The Cure, Holiday Hearts, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Carnations at Siteman Center, Ronald McDonald House, Shalom House, A Cinderella Project, The Color Run, Alzheimer Walk, STLCOP C.A.R.E.S., Gateway Homeless Shelter, Muscular Dystrophy Dance-A-Thon, and multiple others.
Since its inception in 1975, Beyond Housing has sought to provide the supports and services that assist low-income families in growing into their long-term goals. Beyond Housing has met the challenge of evolving to incorporate the changing needs of families, communities and the 21st century workplace. While identifying and addressing immediate needs to establish stability, families are also engaged in a comprehensive array of services that produce positive outcomes. Beyond Housing is a charter member of the NeighborWorks®, a national network of community-based organizations that improve and strengthen communities through cooperative efforts with residents, business people, government officials, and other partners.
What can one person do? Buying a blessing basket and encouraging your friends to follow in your philanthropic foot steps goes further toward ending the cycle of poverty than you might imagine. As a certified nonprofit organization we have only ONE mission: lift the artisans we serve out of poverty. We pay our artisans a Prosperity Wage, which is significantly beyond fair trade, in fact more than anyone else in the world. Our mission is achieved when the artisan uses their Prosperity Wages to start businesses and graduate from our program into a life of substainable financial independence.

Person by Person, as People for People, we make good choices to help people make their own. This is the belief that drives our programming of empowerment. We uphold a mission of hope: MPM Haiti works directly with individuals and families in Haiti in programs of self-empowerment and essential relief through such programs as: • Education scholarships • Microcredit small business startups for entrepreneurial women • Vocational education and training in a highly competitive job market • Water purification and health education for families • Direct relief, such as nutrition, clean water, medical referral and adequate shelter for those in greatest need
Located at 1126 S. Kingshighway in St. Louis, MO, Little Bit of Haven provides a home away from home for families traveling to St. Louis from afar with a seriously ill or injured family member requiring a hospital stay. Since St. Louis is recognized as having some of the best doctors in the nation, it is not uncommon for families to travel hundreds or thousands of miles away for the best care. We offer a 6 bedroom, 3 story home, available 24 hours a day, within walking distance to St. Louis Children's and Barnes Jewish Hospital. Allowing family members to stay close by enables them to communicate with doctors as well as be there for their loved one at any time of day. Being so close is just as important as the actual medical care they receive. When families are faced with a medical crisis, the last thing they should have to think about is where they can afford to stay, where they will do their laundry, where they will get their next meal or where they can lay their heads. A Little Bit of Haven seeks to provide just that, rest and peace, at little or sometimes no cost, depending on the situation.
