An iconic building on Miami University’s Oxford campus, Alumni Library, also known as Alumni Hall, currently houses the university’s Department of Architecture and Interior Design and the Wertz Art and Architecture Library. This Lombardic Romanesque building built in 1910 celebrated its centennial in 2010.HistoryThe university, founded in 1809, initially housed its library in a room in Old Main, the main building on campus. As time passed and space ran out in Old Main, the university sought a grant from the Andrew Carnegie Corporation to build a new library on campus. On March 13, 1905 Andrew Carnegie offered the university a $40,000 grant if the university could match the amount with its own $40,000 towards the building. In 1908 the university finished raising the money and the building began. Frank Packard from Columbus, Ohio was hired as the architect and construction began in 1909. The building was inspired by Classical Roman architecture and when it opened in 1910, it consisted of a main reading room for 192 people, a periodical room, a few classrooms, faculty rooms a multi-tier stacks for 150,000 volumes.Building extensionsBy the end of 1911 all the shelf space for the library was full and planning began for an addition to the building. In 1922 funding from the university and the Carnegie Corporation enable an Eastern wing designed by Ralph Ridley to be added to the existing building. This addition included a main reference room, reading room and more stacks.

Williams Hall is located on the campus of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. It is the home of Miami University's Department of Journalism and Department of Communications.HistoryEarly historyWilliams Hall was constructed in 1959 primarily for the use of the communication department at Miami University and for the use of WMUB studios, Miami’s campus radio broadcasting station. Prior to the completion of Williams Hall, all broadcasting equipment was housed on the second floor of Harrison Hall. After completion of Williams Hall, the classrooms were cramped due to the need to soundproof rooms for WMUB. Also, Williams Hall only had one bathroom in the entire building. This space proved to be too limited for the direction WMUB and Miami University were headed.Renovation grantIn 1984, Miami University acquired a state-funded grant to renovate the mass communications department in Williams Hall. The $2.2–million grant was appropriated for renovations and additions to the building. The project involved adding and enlarging classrooms, accumulating more restrooms, and building internal and external accesses for the handicapped. This addition was needed for the increase in students and courses in the communication department since the opening of Williams Hall. After receiving this grant from the state, Miami University began making plans to complete the project by early 1986. At the same time that construction was happening on Williams Hall, Gaskill, Boyd, and Robertson halls were also being modernized, totaling a $6.5 million renovation. Williams Hall ended up using $3.1 million of this (including the $2.2 million grant) because of changes needed to meet stricter codes. In addition to enlarging classroom size, Miami also wanted to enhance Williams Hall to look more like a Miami building. They lowered the building to allow for entry at all floor levels. Due to the expansion, the parking lot around Williams was significantly reduced. Additionally, asbestos was removed from the building due to health reasons.

The Chinese American Cultural Association at Miami University, or CACA for short, was established in 2014 to bring together the greatly diverse international community at Miami and to connect with students of diverse cultural backgrounds. Throughout the year we organize a number of exciting events to celebrate the diversity on our campus and to promote the sense of an international understanding at a cultural, academic, and social level. We want to encourage better friendships, interactions and understanding between the Chinese, American and International students. We highly value integrity, respect and diversity. In the past, CACA organized various activities to achieve its goals, including social activities like: the CACA Annual Moonlight Prom, Thanksgiving Trip to NYC, the Chinese New Year Celebration, the Lantern Festival and some smaller activities like ice skating, bbq at Huston Woods, and the Chinese Konfu session. On behalf of the board, we sincerely invite you to join us in our activities and events. We will continue to work hard in this coming year to identify and represent international student’s interests.
