It started with a simple question: "What do you know about your great-grandfather?" To which our newly-minted teen quickly quipped: "He was REALLY rich." Horrified, his NaNa chided us for relaying so little of her father's legacy, and she expressed her wish that she could have found some way of keeping his words of wisdom fresh for future generations. In considering how to solve that problem, we found too many clunky and cluttered websites. What our teen's NaNa really needed is an intuitive online toolkit that is simple to navigate -- a place to record and replay key moments in life when it matters most. Chronicling facts and translating them into simple stories is our obsession. WisdomBox is an online legacy toolkit that enables everyone to do so. WisdomBox was designed to have particular value to those affected by life-threatening illnesses, as a place where those individuals, and their families and caregivers, can capture, store and share their legacies, and the wisdom of lives well-lived, with those those they love and with the world. Define what you leave behind. WisdomBox.me

Founded in 1971 by a community of church volunteers at a time when shelters for those experiencing homelessness in Northern California were usually limited to either women and children or men, Raphael House emerged as a beacon of hope for at-risk families under the leadership of its first executive director, Ella Hoffman Rigney. “It’s the little things,” summed up her philosophy for a shelter that would be a homelike, nonjudgmental community of healing centered around strengthening family bonds and personal dignity. Today, with this same spirit of warmth, compassion, and kindness at its core, Raphael House offers a broad community-focused continuum of services through its Residential Shelter and Bridge programs that have helped nearly 20,000 children and parents achieve stable housing and financial independence. The only privately funded program of its kind in the San Francisco Bay Area, Raphael House remains at the forefront of providing families experiencing or at risk of homelessness the personalized solutions they need to build brighter futures.

Founded in 1974 by Dr.Charlie Garfield at the UCSF Cancer Institute, Shanti was one of the first-ever volunteer organizations to work with terminally-ill individuals, and later became one of the very first community-based HIV/AIDS organizations in the world. Shanti has trained over 15,000 volunteers in the Bay Area and 600 organizations world-wide in the Shanti Model of Peer Support, and in the Bay Area alone, Shanti volunteers have provided over 3 million hours of care-giving. Each year, Shanti serves over 2,400 people with Breast Cancer or HIV/AIDS. For so many of those clients, Shanti represents the difference between zero and one-the difference between a client having to face a life-threatening illness alone or having at least one caring presence at his or her side.
