SPECIAL OLYMPICS PHILOSOPHY: Special Olympics is founded on the belief that people with intellectual disabilities can, with proper instruction and encouragement, learn, enjoy and benefit from participation in individual and team sports, adapted as necessary to meet the needs of those with special intellectual and physical limitations. Special Olympics believes that consistent training is indispensable to the development of an individual’s sports skills. In addition, competition among those of equal abilities is the most appropriate means of testing these skills, measuring progress, and providing incentives for personal growth.

The Big Picture for The Lyric A 1,150 seat main theater that will be home to a diverse range of performances offered by Casper's own cultural groups as well as touring companies. The auditorium, will have acoustical properties on a par with the very finest of performance venues. A smaller space, seating 250 people for smaller performances is planned. The smaller performance space will provide a unique setting for private events including social gatherings, reunions and weddings as well as smaller performances.

Jason's Friends Foundation assists families throughout the State of Wyoming with children who suffer from brain or spinal cord tumors and childhood cancers. We work with children from birth through the age of twenty. A parent or guardian must be a Wyoming resident. When a child is diagnosed with one of these devastating illnesses, the family's world is turned upside down. The demands and costs of day to day living needs often become insurmountable. We understand that families of cancer kids have an urgent need for financial assistance; therefore, there are no income restrictions.

Our purpose is to provide advocacy for abused and neglected children in natrona County, ages birth to eighteen years of age, using trained volunteers. Each year in Natrona County, approximately 150 children are removed from their homes and placed into the custody of the state because of abuse or neglect by their caretakers. Unfortunately, the system designed to help these children and their families is bogged down by the overwhelming size of the problem. The CASA volunteer is a trained community member who is appointed by a district court judge to speak for the best interests of the children who are brought before the court.

Casper Family Connections is a non-profit agency founded in order to provide children who are unable to live with one or both parents, a safe and conflict-free environment in which they may have a healthy contact with the noncustodial family. We strive to provide services that treat the family as a whole and are customized to their specific family needs. Our goal is to promote reunification by strengthening parent-child attachment and reducing the potentially damaging effects of separation. The targeted population that we serve are the families that are in crisis; specifically, vulnerable families dealing with child abuse and neglect, parental substance abuse issues, domestic violence and separation and divorce. Casper Family Connections is committed to providing Natrona County with quality, specialized services in regards to at-risk children and their families that may be impacted by separation and the court process.

Open sky welcomes those interested in learning about meditation and is open to all. Join us at 5:30pm on Friday and Sunday evenings at Absolute Fitness in the Commissary Mall across from the Nicolaysen Art Museum on East 2nd Street in Casper, Wyoming. We hold longer practice sessions in monthly mini retreats. Sometimes invited speakers are brought in from nearby centers for weekend retreats. Open Sky was founded on February 28, 2004.

Throughout the year the Wyoming LETR holds several fundraising events across the Cowboy State. In February and March we hold the annual Jackalope Jumps for Special Olympics. In this event brave supporters of Special Olympics take a plunge into icy waters to raise awareness and funds. The end of April we hold our state-wide Law Enforcement Torch Run where law enforcement officers from across the state help carry the Flame of Hope across the state to the Opening Ceremonies of the Summer Games in Laramie.
