Ana was raised in a household that, despite being located in the USA, was culturally bound to customs that were originally rooted in Eastern Europe. Ana speaks Croatian fluently, which is beneficial to many refugees and immigrants located in the Saint Louis area. Ana is very tolerant of competing traditions, beliefs, and lifestyles due to her uncommon upbringing. This has facilitated open discussion with others, a nonjudgmental perspective. All of these attributes provide a stalwart foundation for professional counseling. Ana uses an eclectic range of theories including cognitive behavioral theory, psychodynamic, and person-centered. Her experience includes social anxiety, anxiety, OCD, self-injury, hoarding, PTSD, grief, and many more diagnostic evaluations. She has worked in an OBGYN setting. This experience showed her a need for counseling for women suffering from post partum depression, miscarriages, polycystic ovary syndrome, and many more diagnoses. Ana's passion is to continue counseling with empathy, genuineness, and ability to listen to clients. Never underestimate the power of prayer, positive thinking, faith, and belief in yourself.

If you or someone know snores loudly or experiences chronic daytime sleepiness, it may be time to think about a sleep disorder known as sleep apnea. Research indicates that sleep apnea can take up to 14 years off of a person's life expectancy. To put that in perspective, consider that smoking removes about 7 years off of a person's life expectancy. Sleep apnea also contributes to advanced aging, accidents and lower productivity. Many people visit a sleep doctor and undergo a sleep study in a sleep clinic. If this option does not appeal to you and has stopped you from seeking a diagnosis in the past, there are alternatives. Currently, there is equipment that can monitor you while you sleep in your own bed. The results are then sent to a sleep doctor who will diagnosis you. If you are canidate for oral appliance therapy (OAT) your sleep doctor will work with a qualified dentist that you choose. If you choose the traditional sleep study in a sleep clinic, your physician can still work with your dentist if you are a canidate for OAT. If you are currently using a CPAP you might still be a canidate for OAT. Many patients have found that OAT, which is much like wearing an athletic mouth guard, to be much more comfortable, quieter and easier to sleep in. Their spouses tend to appreciate the OAT as well. Moreover, OAT makes traveling much easier. There are many benefits and many medical insurance companies will provide benefits to help with the cost of treatment.
