Destination Discovery is New Vista's respite program. Parents and caregivers that have an individual living at home can utilize this program to get a break from providing regular care. While caregivers are enjoying a break the individual gets to go on an excursion with the New Vista staff. These destinations are selected to offer programs that are educational, safe and of course FUN! This program offers day trips, weekend get-a-ways, and even week long options for individuals with intellectual challenges and their caregivers, New Vista believes that part of being a responsible provider is to also offer healthy food options so when you are on a respite trip with us we will not attend fast food establishments. The fun is in the discovery!! To receive our respite catalog, or to sign up for an even please call (702) 278-4810
The Rainbow Company Youth Theatre is a nationally acclaimed, award-winning youth theatre group which operates under the City of Las Vegas Office of Cultural Affairs. The company provides a professional training program for young people and theatre art classes for all ages. The core of the Rainbow Company is its ensemble of 40 dedicated students, ages 10 to 18, selected yearly by open auditions. The Rainbow Company Ensemble members work in all aspects of each production. The costumes, make-up, sets, lights, sound and backstage crew responsibilities are all handled by Ensemble members under the tutelage of professional directors and designers. Serving as an Ensemble member requires participants to make a serious commitment to learning the art of theatre. The mission the Friends of Rainbow Company is to support the company, the students and the staff in providing the best experience to the students. Ticket prices are $5 per person. Casting for Rainbow Company shows is age appropriate-adults in adult roles and children in children's roles-and all auditions are open to members of the community. (There is always a need for adults to audition!) Classes are offered year-round for young people ages 4-18 at Charleston Heights Arts Center. Those who are 4-12 years of age concentrate on improvisation, acting and creative drama. Older, more experienced, young people explore classes in all aspects of theatre. The Student Ensemble program offers professional-level training to young people, ages 10-18, in all areas of theatre. This nationally recognized program is a huge time commitment; but for the serious theatre student, it is ideal. The Ensemble is for students who want to learn all aspects of theatre, and all students are required to work on all productions, either backstage or on stage. A touring show goes out into the schools on Tuesdays and Thursdays, February-May, to perform for upward of 11,000 young people each year. For the past 22 years, the show has been an original musical production focusing on Nevada history.

Last year the VITA program saved nearly 8,000 households an estimated $1,365,000 in income tax preparation and filing fees. Over $10,500,000 in federal income tax refunds were returned to Nevada, providing veterans, low-income families, seniors, single parents and students with a financial boost they desperately needed in a recovering economy. Since 2007, hundreds of local volunteers have been trained and certified by IRS and donated tens of thousands of hours preparing and filing federal income tax returns at dozens of VITA sites across the Las Vegas Valley and Pahrump free of charge for families whose annual household income is less than $52,000. NFTC will carry on this important program by having 20 tax sites throughout Las Vegas and Pahrump.
