Cellarmaker Brewing Company has been in the works for quite some time. Look for our beers to start making their way around better known beer bars and beer focused restaurants in San Francisco starting in September. We have a tasting room in the same building as the brewery and will offer tasters, pints, and growlers. Some beers may be bottled further down the line but for now it's all draft. The only way you can take our beer away is in the form of a growler - which by the way, is a great way to drink beer! Look for a focus of plenty of hoppy beers, belgian-style saisons, dark beers, and sour beers. We are huge fans of wine and bourbon barrel aged beers as well so it's only natural for us to have a barrel program. Think bourbon barrels loaded with big chewy imperial stouts, excessively hopped IPAs, fruited sour beers, and funky saisons. This is what we love. This is what we are all about. We hope you are too! Please follow along for the ride as we build San Francisco's next great brewery. Cheers!

Old Bus? Old Bus is an expression of the humble, steady and unfettered approach we take to our brewing, cooking and cocktails. We also actually do spend a lot of time on old buses. John restored a 1978 Volkswagen Westfalia and spent a summer touring the country with his wife and dog. It’s now become his daily driver and our team adventure vehicle. And now, with the help of our Indiegogo campaign, we have purchased and are restoring a 1971 VW bus fully dedicated to the business. This "Old Bus Bus" will be used for further adventures, as well as farmer's market trips and beer festivals. It is also available to the community for outdoor parties, events, and catering. The Drinks Brewers Ben and John start from classic American and Belgian styles that are reinterpreted through experimentation. While we love big, unusual beers as much as any beer geek, we strive to balance those with brews that are enjoyable from start to finish, day after day. After eight years of home-brewing, our new steam-fired four barrel brewhouse is a big step up for us. But it's still small enough to give us the freedom to experiment with new recipes and ingredients each batch. In addition to our own beers brewed in-house, our fourteen taps feature a rotating selection of other local craft beers. Consultant Christina Cabrera and bar manager Ryan Linden have designed a cocktail menu based on fresh, seasonal ingredients and the back bar reflects our shared passion for whiskey and mezcal. The Food The Old Bus kitchen is led by Chef Max Snyder. Max brings a strong command of modern culinary technique to Old Bus Tavern, where he whips up shareable plates that range from drinking snacks to refined entrees. Max features the Bay Area's bounty in his creative reinterpretation of classic American food. Dishes also often feature our house-brewed beer or brewery ingredients.
Anchor Steam® Beer derives its unusual name from the 19th century when “steam” was a nickname for beer brewed on the West Coast of America under primitive conditions and without ice. While the origin of the name remains shrouded in mystery, it likely relates to the original practice of fermenting the beer on San Francisco’s rooftops in a cool climate. In lieu of ice, the foggy night air naturally cooled the fermenting beer, creating steam off the warm open pans. Once a nickname for any West Coast beer brewed under these conditions, today the name “steam” is a trademark of Anchor Brewing and applies only to the singular process and taste of our flagship brand - San Francisco’s original Anchor Steam® Beer. The classic of American brewing tradition since 1896.
