It is home to nearly 600 music majors, plus hundreds of students pursuing music minors, taking course work, or participating in its many ensembles. Its faculty of more than 60 professors includes nationally and internationally recognized performing artists, composers, scholars, and master teachers. The school offers more than 400 annual events, concerts and outreach programs, enriching the arts in the community and providing the university with all things musical, from ensembles like the marching band, jazz ensemble and glee clubs to classes for non-music majors who simply love music.
The Student Life Multicultural Center is housed in a gorgeous space on the first floor of the Ohio Union. It is an intercultural center focused on helping all Ohio State students hone their global citizenship skills as well as home to several cultural and identity constituency services for students -- African/African American, Asian/Asian American, American Indian and Indigenous, Latino, and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning students. The MCC sponsors roughly 500 programs a year, ranging from dialogue classes, three-credit courses, film/speaker series, anti-bias workshops, student leadership groups, cultural festivals and heritage awareness months. The John Glenn College of Public Affairs is a public policy and management school at The Ohio State University. The Glenn College offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs in public affairs. The Glenn College provides research, training and technical assistance to state, public and nonprofit organizations. The college is named after United States Senator and Astronaut John Glenn. On January, 30, 2015, The Ohio State University Board of Trustees approved a change of status of the former John Glenn School of Public Affairs making the new John Glenn College of Public Affairs the 15th college at The Ohio State University.HistoryThe John Glenn College of Public Affairs was founded on the principle that an informed and involved citizenry is essential for democracy to thrive. The Glenn College’s programs equip students with the skills to become tomorrow’s citizen-leaders or public service professionals. The skills taught at the Glenn School give students the knowledge for civic engagement and the ability to make a lasting change in their communities and the nation.The school officially was formed through a June 30, 2006 merger of the John Glenn Institute and the School of Public Policy and Management. The John Glenn Institute was founded in 1998 as a public service, research, and professional development institute. The School of Public Policy and Management was a part of the College of Commerce, then College of Social and Behavioral Sciences after its 1969 founding.“Inspire citizenship and develop leadership” is the mission of the Glenn College. The college prepares professionals for public service, challenges our students and the general public to be involved in the civic life of their communities. In addition, the Glenn School provides applied research that directly benefits the citizens of Ohio and the nation. The Lawrence and Isabel Barnett Center for Integrated Arts and Enterprise educates and prepares students for successful careers in the arts and related entrepreneurial fields. The Center advances and increases students’ understandings of the business side of the arts and the worlds of arts management, policy, and culture by focusing on the entrepreneurial aspects of the arts. It collaborates with the Fisher College of Business, Moritz College of Law, and multiple departments within the College of Arts and Sciences. Guests from local, regional, and national arts organizations provide leadership to students through the annual Barnett Symposium and Barnett Speaker and Seminar series. The Center contributes to the curricular offerings focused on arts entrepreneurship and arts management by offering programs, working with graduate students across disciplines, and housing the Barnett Fellows. Sonia BasSheva Mañjon, PhD is the inaugural director of the Lawrence and Isabel Barnett Center for Integrated Arts and Enterprise and Associate Professor of Arts Administration, Education and Policy at OSU. Dr. Mañjon works with both undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in arts management, entrepreneurship, community collaborations, institutional partnerships, community arts, and civic engagement activities. She is also committed to initiatives and programs that attract, retain, and inspire students, faculty and staff from underrepresented groups on campus. She has developed and taught classes that focus on the integration of art in society, community development through arts practices, and arts administration as well as organic inquiry, a participatory and reflective qualitative research application and synergic inquiry, a participatory action methodology. Dr. Mañjon earned a PhD in Humanities, Transformative Learning and Change in Human Systems and an MA in Cultural Anthropology and Social Transformation from the California Institute of Integral Studies, San Francisco. She received a Bachelor of Arts in World Arts and Cultures with an emphasis in Dance from the University of California, Los Angeles.
The OSU Statistics Department has twenty-nine full-time faculty members. Research interests encompass virtually all major areas of statistics. Graduates have been employed by a wide range of companies and academic institutions. The department offers four graduate degrees: M.A.S., M.S., Ph.D., and Ph.D. in Biostatistics. The department also offers Graduate Minors in Statistics, Undergraduate Minor in Statistics, and Graduate Interdisciplinary Specializations.
