Louisville Waterfront Park is an 85acre municipal park adjacent to the downtown area of Louisville, Kentucky and the Ohio River. Specifically, it is adjacent to Louisville's wharf and Riverfront Plaza/Belvedere, which are situated to the west of the park.DevelopmentPhase I of Waterfront Park consists of approximately 55acre and was dedicated on July 4, 1999. Louisville architects Bravura Corporation, together with Hargreaves Associates, were the designers of the park. Much of the park, such as the Great Lawn, had opened to the public by the fall of 1998. The initial development cost was about $58 million, a combination of public and private money. The site of the park was previously used for industrial purposes: scrap yards, sand pits and other industrial sites.The park hosted hundreds of events in its first full season of use, including outdoor concerts and other festivals, with an estimated total attendance of more than a million people. There were problems early-on with the grass being too easily worn down by visitors.Phase II of the park opened on June 10, 2004, and added approximately 17 acres (69,000 m²), including the Adventure Playground, which opened in July 2003. Included is an esplanade along the river's edge and a cafe plaza where the Tumbleweed cafe opened in Spring 2005. The park also contains the Brown-Forman amphitheater, docks for transient boaters, and an area for a new rowing facility. The latter is used for the University of Louisville Women's Rowing Team, school and community rowing groups.

The Waterfront Challenge is a test of your balance, strength, endurance and courage over a 5k course loaded with natural and temporary obstacles on Saturday evening June 6, 2014. It is an urban obstacle race, but with a distinctly Louisville feel. It is your opportunity to experience every nook and crevice of one of the world's top urban parks in an entirely unique and exciting way. It is a Race Festival – featuring beer, food, music, and more. It is your chance to have the most fun you’ve ever had running, racing and celebrating with friends.

Lucille Grant Park is an 1 acre park located adjacent to the New Directions Housing Corporation that was dedicated in July 1997 by the Corporation and was named for a prominent gardener in the Phoenix Hill Neighborhood. A Playground and picnic area is available for use from dawn until dusk. Lucille Grant Park is a private park for public use.

Louisville Glassworks, the only facility of its kind in the country, brings together three different glass studios under one roof. Although not a typical museum, Glassworks offers daily tours of the working studios. Production work from the studios can be found and purchased in the Glassworks galleries, as well as works from local, regional, national and international artists. Visit Flame Run at Glassworks and the Mark Payton Glass Center! In addition to the studios, we have several unique spaces which can be used for special events such as weddings, receptions, holiday parties, etc. Flame Run at Glassworks' Blow Your Own Program and the Walk-In Workshop offer hands-on opportunities for the public. Visit Glassworks to see and experience glass in a whole new light. It truly is the HOTTEST place in town. BYO (Blow Your Own) Hot Blown Glass Try your hand at the art of glassblowing. Experience isn't necessary, but having a good time is! A Glassworks artist will assist with the technical side of the process, guiding you step by step, allowing you to choose colors, actually blow into the blowpipe and use traditional glassblowing tools. Create a unique gift for someone special or keep it as a remembrance of your exciting adventure in the Hotshop. BYO gift certificates are also available and guaranteed to spark delight. MYO (Make Your Own) Cold Fused Glass Design and create original fused glass art in the Walk-In Workshop. Participants learn to cut and layer glass, fabricating unique patterns which are then fired in a kiln. These pieces can then be slumped over molds to create a variety of fun and useful objects, such as platters, bowls, clocks and vases just to mention a few. The Walk-In Workshop is the perfect place for team-building outings, birthday parties, field trips or dates. FYO (Flame Your Own) Flameworked Glass Work one-on-one with Mark Payton of Payton Flameworks to create your own flameworked piece. At the My Old Kentucky HomeBrew On Premise you can pick out a recipe, brew it on our professional level brewing equipment, ferment it in our temperature controlled Fermentation Chamber and then bottle your brew and take it home! We take care of all the prep and clean up. You just have to decide what beer you want and we assist you all along the way. When making your appointment, please give at least 24 hours notice before coming in to brew. Tier 1: Make Your Own - $150-$165 Make 10 gallons of your favorite brew. We store your fermenting beer in our custom fermentation chamber. You come back about 3 weeks later and bottle up to 90 - 12 oz bottles. You take it home and it is 100% YOUR BEER! Tier 2: Rental - $35/45 per Hour Brewers can rent our equipment by the hour and make up to 15 Gallons per Kettle. You take the Wort home and finish the process yourself. Malt Extract - $35/Hr. You will be assigned 1 Kettle and your time begins when your water is up to temp. Your time ends when your wort is finished chilling. All Grain - $45/Hr. You will be assigned 2 Kettles. Stoneware has been dedicated to the tradition and careful craftsmanship of transforming clay into enduring, functional art forms for the home, kitchen and garden since 1815. Located in Louisville, Kentucky the art factory in the Paristown Pointe neighborhood offers tours twice a day Monday through Friday and a paint your own pottery experience and retail store Monday through Saturday. On the guided Factory Tour you’ll follow the steps of more than 20 skilled artisans who take the clay from raw form to completed piece. Along the way you’ll be able to touch the clay in its various states. Allow 30 to 45 minutes. In the Paint Your Own Pottery Studio you’ll pick from a wide selection** of pottery pieces such as plates, mugs, bowls and platters. Using the same tools and glazes as Stoneware’s artisans, and after a quick tutorial, you’ll decorate your masterpiece. Once complete, your piece will be glazed and fired by Stoneware staff. After its time in the kiln, it’ll be ready for shipping (UPS shipping fee applies) or pick-up in about 7 to 10 business days. Allow 1 to 2 hours.
