A Women Owned, Gender & POC Inclusive tattoo studio with an 18-year reputation for treating our clients right. Up to ten artists with a range of styles and specialties are available to work with you on creating your next (or very first!) piece of skin art. We're open every day 12pm to 7pm, come by and check out the custom portfolios and be inspired by our creative, professional atmosphere and comfortable space. While you're here, you'll also get a chance to check out our front room where we often have exhibits of our artists' work in other media. WALK-INS ARE WELCOME. Hints for out-of-town clients: If you are planning a trip to San Francisco and want to get a tattoo while here, call our shop as soon as you know your travel dates to schedule an appointment with the artist of your choice. During many busy weekends we are booked in advance and may not be able to accomodate walk-in clients. We have won the San Francisco Bay Guardian's "Best of the Bay" Readers Poll for best tattoo shop in 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Idle Hand was established in 2004 in the Lower Haight neighborhood of San Francisco. Holly took over as owner in 2007. It's seen many changes over the years and will continue to change and grow! There are 6 artists working at the shop: Holly Ellis, Jason Donahue, Austin Maples, Ross Jones, Gary Royal, and Derick Montez. We've got a growing roster of guest artists who come tattoo at the shop when they are in town, check our instagram for most up to date dates! We tattoo mostly in the Traditional Americana style. Due to the popularity of our artists, most work on appointments only but there is usually at least one person available for walk-ins, so don't be shy! We always have someone available for walkins on Saturday. We love our receptionists/assistants, Petey Dammit and Molli. They take care of all of our needs and are the people who you'll most likely first meet when you enter the shop so be nice to them!
Permanently closed. Booty Call Wednesday became a San Francisco night-life institution, with a regular roster of high-profile DJs and performers that drew a diverse crowd to its location in the heart of the city’s Castro District. Founded by the legendary drag impresario, Juanita MORE!, the idea for the weekly came about in the last days before hook-up apps became ubiquitous, when you still had to go out - to make out. For MORE!, Booty Call Wednesday was always about bringing people together and the party thrived off the energy of regulars and newcomers alike. In MORE!’s own words, “Booty Call Wednesday reminds us that in this day in age, there’s always more than one way to connect.”
Overlooking beautiful Duboce Park, the Harvey Milk Center for the Arts is as unique as the Civil Rights leader it was named for. Originally dedicated to the Performing Arts, the builiding, commonly called "Drama, Dance & Music", was headquarters for the Performing Arts Division of the Recreation and Park Department since its construction in 1954. Duboce Park itself, has been a location for arts programming since the early 1920's when the women volunteers of the San Francisco Urban Story League performed puppet shows and storytelling in the park for children.
