Spitz founders Bryce Rademan and Robert Wicklund began laying he groundwork for their hip Eagle Rock eatery while attending Occidental College. Bryce first discovered Doner Kebabs while studying in Madrid, Spain. He was so taken, that he immediately began crafting a plan to bring the mouth-watering cuisine back home with him to Los Angeles. He convinced law school-bound Robert to change course. Together they built the first European-style Doner Kebab restaurant in Los Angeles, and in so doing, they raised the bar on all upscale quick-service eateries. They were determined to insure that the food quality, ambiance and customer service would never be sacrificed. That means nearly everything, from the meals to the sauces, are made daily in-house. The air is alive with music, art, and revelry. Spitz bond with their customers is genuine and sincere. With these principals as a guide, Spitz Restaurants transformed a European street food into a flavorful, fresh, and healthy culinary sensation. All produce is picked by hand each morning in the LA produce markets, and breads are delivered fresh from local artisan bakeries. Spitz proudly supports California's breweries and vineries, and serves local craft beers and wine. Our expert mixologists have crafted a special selection of seasonal cocktails. The decor is modeled on the urban street art scene, while a DJ spins every Friday & Saturday night. We now have Trivia night every Tuesday! * Spitz's Döner Kebab Was Named "Best Sandwich in LA" by Los Angeles Weekly * Named "Best Healthy Fast Food in Los Angeles" * Best French Fries Anywhere Quite simply, you haven't lived until you've tried Spitz. Happy Hour 3-7
Spring Street Smokehouse is an American Bar-B-Que joint offering all the classic barbecue meats, hickory-smoked from four to 18 hours. The meat is wonderfully dense and smoky and includes all the favorites youd expect: beef and pork ribs, Texas hot links, brisket, even deep fried turkey. The down-home sides of greens, beans and cornbread round out a truly authentic BBQ experience. Spring Street also features some surprises, the most intriguing of which is the chicken breast stuffed with sliced jalapeos, onions, and cheese, then wrapped with bacon and pit-smoked. With Los Angelenos starving for truly good comfort food, the Spring Street Smokehouse phenomenon has not gone unnoticed. Spring Street Smokehouse has been recognized by all of the major Los Angeles newspaper, magazine and television programs.

The Smell is an all-ages, alcohol and drug-free, punk rock/noise/experimental venue in Downtown Los Angeles, California. The Smell, notable for its DIY ethic, is home to many of the area's avant-garde performers and artists. The venue is maintained by Jim Smith, one of the four original organizers of the club, and a number of volunteers. The Smell continues in the tradition of Los-Angeles-based underground clubs such as The Masque and Jabberjaw. Aside from its primary function as a live music and performance art space, The Smell hosts a library, a vegan snack bar and a gallery space. The venue predates the conception of the Gallery Row district in which it is located. The Smell and the relatively new Gallery Row both border Skid Row.HistoryThe Smell was founded by Ara Shirinyan, Jarrett Silberman, and Jim Smith as one of the few all-ages art/performance spaces in Los Angeles, after the demise of two local venues, Jabberjaw and the Impala Cafe, during the same week in late 1997. The Smell opened just a short time later, on January 8, 1998. It was originally located by the intersection of Magnolia and Lankershim in North Hollywood, but when the cost of rent rose during the NoHo Arts District boom in 1999, the venue relocated to cheaper Downtown Los Angeles. Shirinyan gave up his ownership before the venue's move, so Silberman, Smith, and Mac Mann constructed the new space.
