Barley’s Taproom is one of the Southeast’s most popular taprooms. Our relaxed and casual atmosphere will put your mind at ease as you enjoy our great food – and even better beer. Step back in time as you enter the historic building that was restored by the owners and staff. The aroma of our famous sourdough pizza will greet you as you behold the wonder of over 40 beers on tap (and even more in bottles!) After dinner and a beer, stay and listen to the bluegrass, country, jazz, and Americana music performed live most nights. We never have a cover charge and are a “clique”-free environment. At Barley’s, all are welcome. We like being a place “where suit and tie meet tie dye.” We’re proud to brag that Barley’s is a place for the whole family. If you are ever in the neighborhood, stop by and see us.

Double D's Coffee and Desserts
Distance: 0.3 mi Competitive Analysis
41 Biltmore Ave
Asheville, NC 28801

(828) 505-2439

Stepping onto the Double Decker Bus has a very distinct effect on people. For children, it makes them feel like grown- ups. They get to be the captain of a vessel that only encourages their imagination. For people who are already grown up, it makes them feel like kids. However, regardless of age, the bus ignites something special in every customer who walks through those red doors and the result is always positive. A cozy red bus nestled into a cozy quaint town makes everyone feel at home. The vintage surroundings paired with organic Notorious Coffee Roasting Co’s coffees from all over the world and local desserts made with love is the recipe for one of Asheville’s most beloved staples. This particular 1963 Lodekka model Double Decker bus came from Bristol, England where it performed its intended job as a public transportation vehicle in the 1960’s and 70’s. It wound up in Atlanta, Georgia in the 1970’s, where it not only took its passengers from point A to point B, but also claimed the reputation of a party bus. It finally landed in Asheville at 41 Biltmore Avenue in 1999 and has been a coffee shop ever since. With the Double Decker’s old age, a modest corner in an unparalleled town has become home. With every season, the carefully manicured patio brings an important personality to downtown Asheville. The décor is aged and refined on both decks. Upstairs seating is comfortable and will accommodate at least 25 people. It’s a great place to people watch and take in the view. A beautiful maple tree rooted in the center of the Double Decker’s courtyard blushes orange and red in the fall and allows our soft fluffy snow to rest gently upon its limbs in the winter. As weather permits, we have occasional live performances by local and out of state musicians held in our courtyard or even upstairs in the bus. Sitting at a stone table, enjoying the notably eclectic music buzzing from one of many surround sound speakers is, to locals and tourists alike, a perfect way to spend an afternoon. Top that off with the peaceful sounds of water flowing from our three lovely fountains and your day is complete.

Storm is where the artistic and adventurous gather, engage and revel. At Storm, we believe that the most interesting places – whether in some exotic corner of the world or right in your own backyard – can inspire creativity, imagination and ideas. Places with an authentically original style, draw the most intriguing people, stimulate lively conversation and become a backdrop for the unexpected. Storm was created as a tucked away neighborhood gem. More of a restaurant than a bar, Chef Owen McGlynn sources all our produce and proteins from local, independent farmers. Much of the produce we buy supports local charities and organizations. Participating in numerous Blind Pig events, we try to work alongside our neighbors whenever we can. With one of the largest rum selections in North Carolina, there are endless options in our bar. Of course, we offer great local beers, various wines and classic cocktails as well. Storm offers a haven for industry guests late night after their shifts, a warm environment for visitors or intimate dates, and a great open patio for friends to gather around. Every night at Storm is a reason to stop by. Join us for nightly specials, our famous Monday Burger and Beer night, half priced select wines on Tuesday, and $3 draft, well liquor and wines by the glass on Sunday. You’ll often find live music on our outdoor patio. So grab a seat near the fire place, enjoy a cocktail and delicious meal, and gather with your friends at Storm.

You should not have to sacrifice quality and flavor in order to eat right. This is the motto that we live by here at Laughing Seed. It was the foundation the original menu that Joan and Joe Eckert offered their guests in 1993, and it continues to guide our kitchen today. At Laughing Seed, we believe people should have the freedom to enjoy delicious meals with their family and friends, regardless of their individual dietary preferences or restrictions. For this reason, we indicate right on our menu which of our mouthwatering vegetarian dishes are made with vegan and/or gluten-free ingredients. Our skilled chefs and helpful service team are also always more than happy to do their best to accommodate any other dietary concerns that you may have. Additionally, we know that food choices are much more complicated than they used to be. Issues like GMOs, organic- and locally-grown food, and sustainable agriculture are important to us and to many of our guests. This is why we use only non-GMO oil in our fryers, we incorporate numerous organic ingredients into all of our menu items, and we support local farmers like Roberta and Sacha at Three Graces Dairy and the great folks at Rise Up Rooted Farm. In terms of flavor, the sky's the limit! Global fusion is very much alive at the Laughing Seed. Dine with us, and you can experience the fresh, complex tastes of Thailand, the simple, but intensely satisfying, flavors of the Mediterranean, as well as the vibrant cuisine of South and Central America. Sunflower seed pesto and cashew ricotta form a deliciously satisfying filling for our raw Spinach Pesto Manicotti. Nothing comforts like our classic Harmony Bowl, Tempeh Reuben, or Tico Burrito. With a full bar featuring organic and sustainable wines, locally-brewed beers, and unique, from-scratch cocktails, as well as WNC's "Most Unique Non-Alcoholic" beverage selection, Laughing Seed is a place where anyone and everyone can find a dish or a drink to make their evening. For warm-weather diners, we also offer beautiful, pet-friendly outdoor dining on historic Wall St. Please visit www.laughingseed.com for our full menu.
