District Oakland is located in Old Oakland between downtown and Jack London Square. We are 1 block from the downtown Marriott and Convention Center and an easy walk from the BART station at 12th & Broadway. We are pleased to offer over 40 wines by the glass and taste along with a more extensive private reserve list. Our wine list consists of unique, high quality labels from around the world. The selections are divided evenly between New World and Old World, providing a wide range of varietals, terroir, climate and winemaking techniques. We also offer over 40 craft whiskeys that focus on small batch production from Kentucky to Scotland and beyond. Like our wines, you can taste our whiskeys in small pours or have it served more traditionally on the rocks or neat. We also offer an extensive list of whiskey cocktails from the traditional to the obscure. Our dinner menu has been carefully selected to enhance your tasting experience with small, shareable plates that pair well with our wide selection of wines and whiskeys. Everything on the menu is made in-house with fresh ingredients from local purveyors and artisans.

Kraken Con is a three-day convention being held November 18-20, 2016 at the Oakland Convention Center in Oakland CA which features anime, cartoons and comics with a heavy emphasis on whimsy, imagination and the creative process. Our goal is to ensure attendees have an enjoyable experience via great panels, cool guests, fun events and awesome merchandise.
The Oakland Tribune Building is centrally located at the heart of downtown Oakland, California, just steps away from City Hall, and the 12th Street Oakland City Center Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) underground train station, which allows for easy access to downtown San Francisco as well as the entire Bay Area. It is also only ten minutes to the University of California, Berkeley and fifteen minutes to downtown San Francisco (Financial District & Union Square). The Tribune Tower was bought by CallSocket, a call center business, in December 2011 for $8 million after it went into foreclosure. CallSocket, controlled by an entrepreneur named Tom Henderson, is conducting $3-4 million in renovations and opened the ground floor restaurant, the Tribune Tavern.

Studios Eleven holds eleven individual artist studios a Gallery and large communal space. Formerly adjacent to Swarm Gallery and founded by Svea Lin Soll and Merritt Sher the studios now continue under a new name. Conveniently located in the Ironworks District near Jack London Square, Studios Eleven regularly participates in Oakland Art Murmur and East Bay Open Studios, as well as frequent music and live art programming. We are generally open to the public 7 days a week, 11:00 am - 6 pm as well as by appointment.
Each fall the East Bay Express celebrates the darker side of independent cinema in a vibrant display of horror, macabre and exploitation shorts with SCREAM: East Bay Express’ Horror Film Festival. Film submissions should be genre specific and under 10 minutes, including credits. All independent filmmakers with pieces under two years old are welcome to submit their works for consideration. The Film Fest takes place at XOXO Nightclub in Oakland (2015: October 24th from 7pm to midnight) and is brought to you by the East Bay Express in collaboration with Tourettes without Regrets and the Sacramento Horror Film Festival. This event is 18+.

Professional and amateur artists learn and grow and inspire one another. Misfits and outkasts are welcome. If you are serious about your craft and want a place to work and display your talent feel free to come for an hour or the day, week, month. Take advantage of a professional receptionist to manage your appointments and answer calls for your business. Utilize the facilities which include private or public work spaces with computers, wifi, printers, telephones with your personal extension, meeting rooms to bring clients, game room/lounge to entertain guests. City Limits is an art gallery in Oakland, California's Jack London Square. For each exhibition, artists are asked to exhibit all-new works which deviate from their typical art practice or discipline. From March 2012 until April 2013, Evan Reiser operated City Limits at his apartment at 35 Naglee Avenue, a few blocks north from San Francisco's literal city limits in the Excelsior/Outer Mission neighborhood. The Oakland location at 300 Jefferson St opened in December 2013.
The Hanging Garden brings classic goth, new wave and synth pop to the East Bay's Night Light twice a month (first and third Saturdays) for you to dance to at The Night Light at 311 Broadway in Oakland. Every other second Tuesday, THG teams up with CiderUp Shows to bring you live death rock bands at The Golden Bull in Oakland at 412 14th st. The Hanging Garden along with CiderUp Shows also organizes an annual summer festival for dark music called Pandemonium. Lastly, THG is a radio show every Tuesday 6pm-8pm PST on bff.fm. Incandescent lit Archways sparkle like diamonelle lined keyhole beacons, granting passage through the iron gates and ominous grey walls of a 2 story saloon, reminiscent of a Camelot-esque ghost town casino in a boardwalk town long forgotten, an amber glow beams through the crack of Red double doors which when opened, reveal a jewel box-like covenant adorned in burl, velvet, Leather and Brass along with a vibrant cast of vagabonds, hippies, jocks and professionals as vibrant and diverse as the socially panoramic city surroundingit when A crackle pops as a needle drops on 7" wax cut through crystal clear, hi-fi stereo-phonics and superb subsonic waveforms, air waves cast out like spells from a wizard-like woman's sleeves whose wands are 1200's, her spell book a crate of incantations ranging from Tupac to T-Rex, Eno to ELO, from Pharcyde to Suicide, or War to Wire and Archie Bell to Belle and Sebastian or Frank Black to Barry White, conjured is the soundtrack seemingly spanning space and time in a sound proof capsule padded by the casual conversation comprised caucophany of socially lubricated lampers purring in unison while the clash of spirit trapped bottles ring like bells at the hands of a masterful chemist who dances back and forth from brass taps of frothing liquid gold and a well of brown and chartreuse elixirs, a lab for the cure for each patient patron. The barkeep's scanning glance intersects and catches your gaze as he turns to your company and warmly says` "Welcome to the Night Light friend, What will it be? ".... to be continued
