The Manhattan School of Music is a major music conservatory located on the Upper West Side of New York City. The school offers degrees on the bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels in the areas of classical and jazz performance and composition.Founded in 1917, the school is located on Claremont Avenue in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of New York City, adjacent to Broadway and West 122nd Street . The MSM campus was originally the home to The Institute of Musical Art until Juilliard migrated to the Lincoln Center area of Midtown Manhattan. The property was originally owned by the Bloomingdale Insane Asylum until The Institute of Musical Art purchased it in 1910. The campus of Columbia University resides close by, where it has been since 1895. Many of the students live in the school's residence hall, Andersen Hall. As of 2011, 75 percent of the students come from outside New York State and 31 percent from outside the United States.

In July 2005, a team of six teachers founded KIPP Infinity Charter School with 88 fifth graders from Washington Heights, West Harlem, and the South Bronx. In 2008-09, KIPP Infinity grew to full size (grades 5-8) with 285 students and was the number one public school in New York City, as determined by the NYC Department of Education Annual Progress Reports. KIPP Infinity students continue to have great academic success. In addition, KIPP Infinity offers a wide arrange of enrichment activities including dance, band, journalism, chorus, flag football, basketball, volleyball, and cross country, providing an opportunity for students to develop new skills and interests and to build character strengths that benefit them in their core academic classes and their lives outside the classroom.

The Columbia University Science Honors Program (SHP) is a Saturday morning program specifically designed for high school students in the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grades. Classes are held on the Columbia University Morningside Campus during the entire academic year from September through May.

The Assembly publishes learned texts, prayerbooks, and works of Jewish interest; and it administers the work of the Committee on Jewish Law and Standards for the Conservative movement. It also serves the professional and personal needs of its membership through publications, conferences, and benefit programs, and it coordinates the Joint Placement Commission of the Conservative movement. Rabbis of the Assembly serve congregations throughout the world, and also work as educators, officers of communal service organizations, and college, hospital, and military chaplains.

As one of the first conservatories in the U.S. to acknowledge the prime importance of jazz as an art form, Manhattan School of Music’s programs of study for jazz arts majors are designed to develop skilled performers, composers, arrangers and jazz educators in preparation for careers in jazz music. Systematic and rigorous conservatory training, combined with a myriad of performance and networking opportunities in New York City make this program one of the richest of its kind for young jazz musicians. Student ensembles include the Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra, Concert Jazz Band, Jazz Orchestra, Jazz Philharmonic, Chamber Jazz Ensemble, and Jazz Combos. All students in the Jazz Arts degree programs are required to fulfill their ensemble requirement as outlined in their course sequence plans and as assigned by the associate dean of the Jazz Arts Program. In addition to studies with our expert faculty, students are provided additional opportunities to play for and observe world-renowned guest artists. Recent master classes have included: Gary Burton (vibraphone), Wycliffe Gordon (trombone, faculty), Stefon Harris (Class of 1997 — vibraphone),Vijay Iyer (piano, faculty), Lee Konitz (saxophone), Dave Liebman (saxophone, Artist-in-Residence), Jason Moran (Class of 1997— piano), Butch Morris (Conduction Workshop), Christian McBride (bass), Jimmy Heath (tenor saxophone), Jon Faddis (trumpet), and Maria Schneider (composition). Every concert season, guest soloists are featured in concert with our large ensembles, providing enriched performance experiences for students. Recent guest soloists include Paquito D’Rivera, NEA Jazz Masters Candido and Dave Liebman, Randy Brecker, Joe Lovano, Bob Mintzer, and vocalists Jane Monheit, Roberta Gambarini and Judi SIlvano.

JTS has always had a strong connection to Hebrew as the language of the Jewish people and its civilization and as the spoken language of the state of Israel. The Hebrew Fellows program [שוחרים] recognizes students who have a commitment to Hebrew and provides a framework for sharing this commitment and advancing the presence of Hebrew at JTS. Hebrew Fellows who satisfy the requirements graduate with “Hebrew Honors” on their diploma and received a significant subsidy for a roundtrip ticket to Israel. The requirements include completing five courses taught in Hebrew (beyond the language requirement), participating in several activities conducted in Hebrew each semester, and doing volunteer work to contribute to the Hebrew climate of the institution. Students in all JTS schools are welcome to join the Hebrew Fellows program. The Center for Palestine Studies is the first such center to be established in an academic institution in the United States. The mission of the new Center is to promote the academic study of Palestine in all its forms and to offer a dedicated site for sustained interchanges among scholars and students. Center activities are intended to advance the production and circulation of knowledge on Palestinian history, culture, society, and politics in diverse fields, including history, literary studies, the social sciences, religion, philosophy, law, archaeology, the arts and architecture. Columbia University currently is the professional home to a unique concentration of distinguished scholars on Palestine and Palestinians, as well as to an award-winning supporting faculty in a variety of disciplines. In addition to extensive faculty writings and varied course offerings on Palestine and Palestinians, the university also houses an important Palestinian film collection. Building on these wide-ranging and multi-disciplinary academic interests, the creation of the Center for Palestine Studies is intended to recognize and further engage this world-class academic strength. In its diverse activities, the Center for Palestine Studies will have a national and global reach. The Center is active in developing contacts with scholars and other institutions for the purposes of academic cooperation. Enhancements to the curriculum, library and faculty at Columbia will translate into new resources to advance the academic study of Palestine and Palestinians throughout the United States and the world. Palestine and Palestinian studies now have an institutional home for faculty, post-doctoral researchers, and students. A mandate of the Center for Palestine Studies is to promote scholarship and facilitate exchanges with scholars, students and academic institutions in the West Bank and Gaza. The Center is committed to the academic freedom of students, faculty and schools in the Occupied Territories, as well as among the refugee populations and elsewhere in the world where scholars and students carry out academic work on Palestine and Palestinians.

The CLP is a unique and integral part of the TESOL and Applied Linguistics Programs at Teachers College, Columbia University. It provides quality and low-cost English and foreign language instruction to adult learners of diverse nationalities and backgrounds in the Columbia University and surrounding New York communities. In addition, the CLP serves as an on-site language education lab in which TESOL and Applied Linguistics faculty and students enrolled in the masters and doctoral programs teach the courses and use the CLP as a setting for empirical inquiry. Here at Teachers College we believe that observation and classroom research are the best way to learn about how we teach and gain insights into how teaching might take place. Thus, we encourage observation and classroom research and want people to use it as a tool for learning. Ongoing assessment and program evaluation allow us to make the CLP a better program.

The Union Forum is a meeting ground for theological scholarship and civic action. It grows out of Union Theological Seminary’s historic leadership in social ethics—from Progressive Era reforms to international intervention in the age of Hitler to the Civil Rights movement. Our goal is to inform and include those outside the boundaries of the campus through videos, blog posts, and live-steaming featuring the many speakers, conferences, initiatives, and institutes here at Union—and invite you into that conversation. Through an interactive multi-media website, The Union Forum will explore social issues through the lens of principles and values and will interrogate the role of religion in the conflict and circumstances of the world.

We believe that the single-format lesson does not support the full and diverse range of learners in any given classroom, and teachers need to develop the skills and dispositions that address each and every learner. In addition to supporting students with identified disabilities, we also believe teachers in inclusive classrooms can create engaging curriculum for students who need more challenging work.

The DIAP MFA program's central focus is a utilization and critical engagement of digital media and beyond that leads to research into areas as diverse as interactive sculpture, dance, cyber gender, experimental video, online privacy, online/offline interventions, performance or bio art and is supportive of different models of individual or collaborative art practice. DIAP is occupying a unique 3300 square foot space, the former architecture library at City College, located on the 4th floor of Shepard Hall, Room 408. The entrance to the building is on Convent Ave corner of 140th Street. The DIAP student club: Founded by DIAP graduate students in 2013, they organize monthly events that aim to create bridges between digital media art students and students from other disciplines.
