You may ask: "Why is it called Operation Barnabas?" Barnabas was Paul's companion, who helped him in his missionary journey. Barnabas means "son of encouragement." CK Young Adults will provide space for encouragement, faith conversations, opportunities to make a difference in the community, and connection points to other young adults. Constituted in Spring 1993, the Graduate Student Senate (GSS) is the graduate student governing body composed of one representative from each degree-granting department or program in the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, as well as graduate students from Engineering and the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. The primary objectives of the GSS are to provide channels of communication among graduate students, the Dean of the Graduate School, and other members of the University community; to enhance the graduate student experience through professional development programming and social events; and to provide a forum for graduate student concerns. When a line-of-duty-death occurs, and once the agency that sustained the loss requests help, the Missouri Law Enforcement Funeral Assistance Team responds. The team serves in a behind the scene capacity and offers suggestions based on what the needs of the department are as well as those of the families. The team will not self respond, and the priority is always on caring for the fallen officer's family.
