The Cort Theatre is a Broadway theatre located at 138 West 48th Street in the Theater District of midtown Manhattan in New York City. It is owned by the Shubert Organization, the largest owner of Broadway theatres. The Cort Theatre was designated a New York City landmark on November 17, 1987.HistoryJohn Cort (ca. 1861-1929), founder of the Northwestern Theatrical Association, commissioned architect Thomas W. Lamb to design the theater. Its façade was modeled on the Petit Trianon in Versailles. The resulting 1082-seat Cort Theater is one of the few Lamb theaters still extant and functioning as a legitimate theater. The interior was designed in the style of the era of Louis XVI, with a Pavanozza marble lobby with plasterwork panels. The arch of the proscenium stage consists of perforated plaster treated with art glass, and was designed to be lit during performances. The arch still exists as of 2007, although the lighting feature is no longer in operation.
Palace Theatre is a Broadway theatre located at 1564 Broadway (at West 47th Street) in midtown Manhattan, New York City. From 1913 through about 1929, the Palace attained legendary status among vaudeville performers as the flagship of the Keith–Albee organization, and the most desired booking in the country."Supreme Vaudeville"Designed by Milwaukee architects Kirchoff & Rose, the 1,740-seat theatre was funded by Martin Beck, a vaudeville entrepreneur based in San Francisco, in an attempt to challenge Keith–Albee's east-coast monopoly. Albee in turn demanded that Beck turn over three-quarters ownership to use acts from the Keith circuit. Beck took the deal, and was in charge of the booking. When the theatre finally opened on March 24, 1913, with headliner Ed Wynn, it was not an instant success and lost money for months.Soon the Palace became the premiere venue of the Keith–Albee circuit. The theater owner Albee sometimes traded on the performers' desire for this goal by forcing acts to take a pay cut for the privilege. Even so, to "play the Palace" meant that an entertainer had reached the pinnacle of his vaudeville career. Performer Jack Haley wrote:

Rockefeller Center is a large complex consisting of 19 highrise commercial buildings covering 22acre between 48th and 51st Streets in New York City. Commissioned by the Rockefeller family, it is located in the center of Midtown Manhattan, spanning the area between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987.It is famous for its annual Christmas tree lighting.HistoryRockefeller Center was named after John D. Rockefeller, Jr., who leased the space from Columbia University in 1928 and developed it beginning in 1930. Rockefeller initially planned a syndicate to build an opera house for the Metropolitan Opera on the site, but changed plans after the stock market crash of 1929 and the Metropolitan's continual delays to hold out for a more favorable lease, causing Rockefeller to move forward without them. Rockefeller stated, "It was clear that there were only two courses open to me. One was to abandon the entire development. The other to go forward with it in the definite knowledge that I myself would have to build it and finance it alone." He took on the enormous project as the sole financier, on a 27-year lease (with the option for three 21-year renewals for a total of 87 years) for the site from Columbia; negotiating a line of credit with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and covering ongoing expenses through the sale of oil company stock. The initial cost of acquiring the space, razing some of the existing buildings and constructing new buildings was estimated at $250 million.
WNYE is a non-commercial educational FM radio station located in New York City. WNYE is operated by the NYC Media Group, a division of the New York City Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications, along with WNYE-TV and the NYCTV cable networks. WNYE's studios are in the NYC Media Group's headquarters within the Manhattan Municipal Building, while its transmitter is atop the Condé Nast Building. Because its funding comes from the City of New York, WNYE is different than most non-commercial radio stations in that it does not ask for listener donations and it airs no fund drives.HistoryWNYE began broadcasting as a high-frequency Apex band station in November of 1938, giving it an earlier starting date than any other FM station in New York City. WNYE switched to 42.1 MHz in the old FM band in 1942. In 1946, it moved to 91.7 MHz, in today's current FM band. Then in 1948, it settled at 91.5 MHz.The station's original licensee was the New York City Board of Education, and as such WNYE-FM was a laboratory devoted to programming designed for the city's public school system. As time went on, WNYE-FM also broadcast adult learning, community-interest and ethnic programming as well. The station's studios and transmitter were originally located within Brooklyn Technical High School. In the middle-1990s the studios were moved to nearby George Westinghouse High School in Downtown Brooklyn.

As the Federal Communications Commission recently instituted a rule prohibiting full-time AM/FM simulcasting in large markets, WLIB-FM was programmed with a jazz music format. The stations were split up in 1972, when Inner City Broadcasting purchased WLIB (AM); WLIB-FM was then renamed WBLS. Inner City reunited the pair with its purchase of WBLS in 1974.
