The Music Box: Tampa Bay is a village of musical architecture along the banks of the Hillsborough River in Tampa’s Sulphur Springs neighborhood. The Music Box: Tampa Bay features public performances by national and local musicians, cultural and historical lectures and events, and open sessions where the all are invited to interact with the musical structures. The Music Box: Tampa Bay is a collaboration with visiting artists New Orleans Airlift, who are working with local artists and the community to design and create this interactive public artwork at the Community Stepping Stones site in Sulphur Springs. New Orleans Airlift began after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, to engage and rebuild the artist community of New Orleans. Since this first project they have created multiple other villages in New Orleans, and developed projects in Shreveport, Louisiana; Atlanta, Georgia; and Kiev, Ukraine. The village will be accessible to the public Thursdays through Sundays from March 25 to April 17, with evening performances every Friday and Saturday beginning at 7:30 pm.
