They're going be partying again on Town Center Drive in Valencia, adjacent to the Hyatt Regency Valencia, Friday nights, starting June 13th, 2014. Established in 1999, Valencia Jazz & Blues Concert Series will feature regional, national and international jazz and blues recording artists in a street party setting, while offering interactive activities for adults and children. This year's series, set to begin June 20th, will run for 10 weeks through Aug. 24th. Hours for the concerts will be 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and they will be held adjacent to the Hyatt Regency Valencia on Town Center Drive at McBean Parkway...in the heart of Valencia. "We're grateful for all of our sponsors for their support during these trying economic times. Without them we wouldn't be able bring back one of the most highly anticipated summer concert series," said Barbara Myler, president of the firm and owner/producer of the concert series. The California Institute of the Arts, colloquially called CalArts, is a private university located in Valencia, in Los Angeles County, California. It was incorporated in 1961 as the first degree-granting institution of higher learning in the United States created specifically for students of both the visual and the performing arts. It is authorized by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) to grant Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts in the visual, performing, and as of 1994, literary arts. The Herb Alpert School of Music was accredited in 2009 to grant a Doctor of Musical Arts.The school was founded and created by Walt Disney in the early 1960s and staffed by a diverse array of professionals. The institute was started as Disney's dream of an interdisciplinary "Caltech of the arts." CalArts provides a collaborative environment for a diversity of artists. Students are free to develop their own work (over which they retain control and copyright) in a workshop atmosphere.HistoryCalArts was originally formed in 1961 as a merger of the Chouinard Art Institute (founded 1921) and the Los Angeles Conservatory of Music (founded 1883). Both of the formerly existing institutions were going through financial difficulties around the same time, and the founder of the Art Institute, Nelbert Chouinard, was also fatally ill. The professional relationship between Madame Chouinard and Walt Disney began in 1929 when Disney had no money and Madame Chouinard agreed to train his first animators on a pay-later basis. He never forgot and over the years watched the Chouinard Art Institute grow into the finest art school on the West Coast. It was through the vision of Disney, who discovered and trained many of his studio artists at Chouinard (including Mary Blair, Maurice Noble and some of the Nine Old Men, among others), that the merger of the two institutions was coordinated; the process continued after his death in 1966. Joining him were his brother Roy O. Disney, Lulu Von Hagen and Thornton Ladd (Ladd & Kelsey, Architects), of the Los Angeles Conservatory of Music.

Dr. H. Vincent Mitzelfelt, founder and conductor of Camerata of Los Angeles, first studied at Madison College in Tennessee, and later at Union College in Nebraska. His post-graduate work was at Loma Linda University in California. In 1957 in Los Angeles, H. Vincent Mitzelfelt created and conducted his Miztelfelt Chorale. Later that year, the group appeared at the Hollywood Bowl and he conducted Bach's Mass in B Minor (BWV 232) for the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. For four years he was the music director of the Bach Festival at the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles, and was guest conductor for the Las Vegas Pops Symphony, the Readers Digest Orchestra, the Los Angeles County Museum Chamber Orchestra and the Los Angeles Brass Society. He organized the Camerata Orchestra of Los Angeles in 1973, renamed the Mitzelfelt Chorale to the "Camerata of Los Angeles Chorus," and served continuously since then as music director of the Camerata of Los Angeles Chorus and Orchestra. The Camerata of LA has toured Western Europe and China, performing to sold-out audiences all over the world. In China, Camerata of LA concerts were broadcast to over half a million people throughout the country. Recordings include: J.S. Bach's Cantata BWV 210, the Mozart's Vespers K.321 and Antonio Vivaldi's Chamber Mass, all on Crystal Records.
