The General Jackson, a 300-foot paddlewheel riverboat, is one of the largest showboats in the country and the ONLY place in Nashville where you can enjoy a live music show while cruising the Cumberland River! Midday and evening cruises offer a variety of entertainment options throughout the year. You'll always find something new just around the bend. History The General Jackson Showboat, built by Jeffersonville, Ind.-based Jeffboat, was launched April 20,1985 and was christened July 2, 1985. The boat can hold 1,200 passengers and 157 crew members. The paddlewheel riverboat stands 77 feet tall, making it one of the country’s largest showboats. The paddlewheel itself is 36 feet long, 24 feet wide and weighs 36 tons. Two Caterpillar 3512 engines, each with 1050 horse power and 880 kilowatt generators, are responsible for powering the boat, which has a maximum speed of 13 miles per hour. Carved from the banks of the Cumberland River, Gaylord Springs Golf Links is a public golf course with Scottish links-style, par-72 layout. Its 18 challenging holes are bordered by limestone bluffs and enhanced by federally protected wetlands. At the signature fourth hole, you’ll find the century-old spring house from which the club derived its name.
Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, formerly known as Opryland Hotel, is a large hotel and convention center located in Nashville, Tennessee. It is owned by Gaylord Hotels, a division of Ryman Hospitality Properties (formerly known as Gaylord Entertainment Company), and operated by Marriott International. It is one of the largest hotels in the world.HistoryThe original Opryland Hotel opened on Thanksgiving Day in 1977, on land adjacent to the former Opryland USA amusement park. The hotel was originally built to support the Grand Ole Opry, a Nashville country music institution. The hotel at that time had 580 guest rooms and a ballroom. The Magnolia Lobby was designed to resemble a grand Southern mansion with an impressive staircase and a Tiffany-style chandelier.In 1983-84 the hotel was expanded, adding over 400 guest rooms and incorporating facilities to meet the demands of the corporate meeting and convention market. A Garden Conservatory resembling a Victorian garden was added. This atrium maintained a constant temperature of 71 degrees and housed more than 10,000 plants.In 1988, 2 acres and 797 guest rooms were added to the hotel. The Cascades Atrium was built, including a 3.5-story waterfall and more than 8,000 tropical plants. The Cascades Lobby expanded to 24 check-in stations that could check in 580 guests per hour when necessary.A 4.5-acre expansion completed in 1996 doubled the size of the resort, adding approximately 1,000 guest rooms, 10 meeting rooms, a 289,000-square-foot exhibit hall and a 57,000-square-foot ballroom. The trademark feature of this addition was the Cajun-themed Delta Atrium, which incorporated a quarter-mile-long indoor river. Flatboats were introduced to carry guests along the river, and past a water feature that included jets which were choreographed to music. When the expansion was christened, water samples from more than 1,700 rivers throughout the world (including every registered river in the United States) were poured into the Delta River. The Old Hickory Steak House, built to resemble an antebellum-style mansion, was also added.

She is executive director of the Miss Southern Tennessee and Southern Tennessee Teen pageants. Additional accommodations for the Ireland bride were wedding gown alterations by measurement. The gown was ready upon her arrival to the USA according to specification, with no adjustments necessary. Jackie has had a groom to decease three days before the wedding date; she has graciously and professionally dealt with that situation as a pro (see bride testimonial section). COMPANY HIGHLIGHTS 2003 Jackie was privileged to have planned, coordinated and presented a bridal and special occasions fashion show in 2003 at the Vanderbilt Stadium Club, with a sponsored social hospitality at the Vanderbilt Marriott with honorable mention Producer Director Karen Saunders from New York, New York television station ABC show 20/20 serving as Master of Ceremony and 42 fashion models: reigning Queens pass and current representing Tennessee and Kentucky Universities, as well as honorable mention reigning crowns from the State of Tennessee and Kentucky Regional and State Queens, and Miss USA. 2009 Jackie managed, planned, coordinated, promoted, did marketing and advertising, co-sponsored and welcomed the "Brides Against Breast Cancer Nationwide Tour of Gowns" into Nashville Tennessee for the first time, May 2009. The Making Memories organization proceeds go to grant a wish for the terminally ill breast cancer patients, preventive care and education.
