One of the longest running establishments in Historical Soulard, located at 1027 Geyer, at the corner of Geyer and Menard. The Great Grizzly Bear has become synonymous with Soulard history stemming back nearly 30 years. Although it has changed ownership at times, the GGB has kept its traditional brick decor and hides one of Soulard's best secrets - it's "Bear" garden (patio). The patio is nestled between historical buildings, brick pavers, and tranqually shaded by many trees making it the most natural and surreal patios in all of Soulard. There are many tables, an outdoor bar, soft lighting and background music for our patrons' enjoyment.
Make sure you bring your appetite, the GGB has a full menu of good ole' wholesome Americana food with special twists of the all time favorites- Bear burgers, The Grizzly with jalapenos and pepperjack cheese, fresh mozzarella wedges to the ultimate patio favorites of s mores and fondu desserts brought right out to your table . The only thing required is a healthy appetite!
Not only has The Great Grizzly Bear established itself as an eatery classic but the music entertainment on the weekends brings soul, blues, and rock & roll to another level on stage every Friday and Saturday night. Frazer Cameron, chef and owner of Frazers restaurant, formerly known as The Traveling Brown Bag, has traveled the US from coast to coast and all over the world experiencing his love for the arts and for fine cuisine. He opened the doors to his restaurant in Benton Park in the winter of 1992, taking what he learned on his explorations and infusing it into the dishes he creates. The entrees at Frazers are inspired by tastes from around the globe, including French, Moroccan, Italian, Mexican, and Cajun. From New Orleans to The Mediterranean, his dishes are one of a kind.
The ever-changing menu at Frazers features steaks and chops, a variety of fresh seafood dishes, pasta, pizza, sandwiches, soups, and salads. The delicious homemade desserts are superb. There is certainly a dish to delight you whatever your tastes. The knowledgeable, outgoing, and caring staff are true food and wine enthusiasts. Relax and enjoy as they guide you smoothly through dinner. All this combined with the natural energy and casual ambience will surely make for a memorable dining experience.
When Frazers first opened with just 25 seats for lunch only, meals were served on paper plates with plastic utensils. Because of the small capacity many customers ordered their food to go in "the traveling brown bags." This April, after completing a recent renovation of the bar, which includes an outdoor patio, there will be seating for 125 guests. Thirteen years and growing Frazers is still sharing its good eats with everyone who comes through the door. Between the comforting food, carefully selected wine list, signature martinis, and decadent desserts, Frazers offers a wonderful creation for everyone.
