Our students, which number about 250 at both the undergraduate and graduate level, enjoy dedicated, personal guidance from our faculty. Our student body is diverse, our research spans experimental and theoretical studies of many fundamental areas of electrical engineering, and we enjoy strong partnerships throughout industry and with prominent national laboratories and federal agencies. Research experiences are integral to the education of not only our graduate students, but also for undergraduates through our Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program and similar activities. We also value the multi-disciplinary opportunities afforded by electrical engineering. As a student, you may find yourself working with engineers in other academic departments, marine scientists, medical doctors, chemists, biologists or physicists. Together with our dedicated faculty and excellent facilities, these exciting opportunities have helped us to attract top students to our department and prepare them for enriching careers.

The University of South Florida (USF) High School Equivalency Program (HEP) celebrates a proud tradition of twenty five years educating students from migrant and seasonal farmworker backgrounds. They are recruited to the University of South Florida through the efforts of an extensive recruitment network which includes the State Departments of Education and Labor, local school districts and community agencies. HEP students have dropped out of high school because of family mobility and a need to work to help their families survive. Although these students are of average and above average ability, their academic records are often inconsistent and poor, reflecting frequent school interruptions. Despite their disappointing educational histories, HEP students have a strong desire to succeed. Once enrolled in HEP, these individuals quickly become part of the university community and demonstrate extraordinary success.
