Journey to the West is a Chinese-American food truck based on a classic Chinese story, “The Monkey King.” The truck is run by Atlantan twin brothers, Keith and James Chan. They founded Journey to the West in 2003 at the age of twenty-five. The truck’s name is a twist on the classic tale. It is translating the story of the Monkey King of traveling from the East (China) to the West (United States). The food from this truck is a fusion of food where two different cultures merge. They serve food in the form of hot dogs. Meats will be traditional Chinese meats served in hot dog buns. There are then choices of toppings to add. In addition to hot dogs with a twist, they also serve special drinks, ice cream, and fruit chips. The two brother’s first and main location for business is close to home, off of Peachtree Street in Atlanta, Georgia, outside of the Woodruff Center for Art. Over the years, they have traveled to multiple states with great response from customers.
