Los Angeles, CA 90014

The Eastern Columbia Building, also known as the Eastern Columbia Lofts, is a thirteen-story Claud Beelman designed Art Deco building located at 849 S. Broadway in the Broadway Theater District of Downtown Los Angeles. It opened on September 12, 1930 after just nine months of construction. It was built at a cost of $1.25 million as the new headquarters and 39th store for the Eastern Outfitting Company and the Columbia Outfitting Company, furniture and clothing stores founded by Adolph Sieroty and family. At the time of construction, the City of Los Angeles enforced a height limit of 150 feet, however the decorative clock tower was granted an exemption, allowing the clock a total height of 264 feet. The edifice is easily spotted from the Interstate 10 - Santa Monica Freeway, as well as many other sections of downtown, due to its bright "melting turquoise" terra cotta tiles and trademark four-sided clock tower, emblazoned with the word "EASTERN" in bright white neon on each face of the clock. The building is widely considered the greatest surviving example of Art Deco architecture in the city (Jose Huizar) following the 1969 destruction of Richfield Tower. It is one of the city's most photographed structures and a world-renowned Art Deco landmark. It has been characterized as the "benchmark of deco buildings in LA".

Kerry originally began his career as head of National Radio Promotion for several major music labels, a position that allowed him hone his negotiation and deal-closing skills. As the music industry began to suffer, Kerry bought several investment properties and soon discovered his passion for real estate, inspiring him to become a full time agent in Los Angeles. Soon after establishing a client base selling homes in Pacific Palisades, Silver Lake, Sherman Oaks and Long Beach, and at a time when most agents were skeptical of the downtown area, Kerry instantly recognized the tremendous potential of the burgeoning community. Within months, Kerry launched TheDowntownMLS and quickly established himself as a top specialist in the market. Since then, he has won numerous awards, has been a top a Top 1% producer Globally with Coldwell Banker for the past 3 years, and is a member of Coldwell Banker’s exclusive International President’s Elite and Diamond Society. In 2014, Kerry closed nearly 40 transactions, and ranked #1 at both Coldwell Banker’s Los Feliz and Downtown Los Angeles offices of over 60 agents collectively. To date, Kerry has closed nearly 200 transactions in the greater Los Angeles area. TheDowntownMLS website receives 2.6 million hits annually and is expanding exponentially, making it one of the top destinations for the homebuyer seeking lofts and condos in the greater Los Angeles area. A true pioneer, much of Kerry’s success can be attributed to his extensive knowledge of Los Angeles’ rich history and architecture as well as his relationships with developers, city planners and architects.
