Here are some things you should know: The setting is very casual – the pastor wears jeans, coffee is served, and laughter is a regular part of our service. The service – you will hear a wide variety of musical styles, biblical teaching, and be invited to participate in prayer, asking questions, and singing along. Our expectations of you – we don’t really have any. Our mission is to meet you wherever you are on your spiritual journey. Our hope is that you will be open minded and allow God to help you take another step closer to Him. What you won’t find – The Church-Lady, average church coffee, judgmental people, boring kid’s ministries, Jimmy Hoffa (although all are welcome.)

Youth Sing Praise

Youth Sing Praise began in 1982 as a ministry to youth by the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, IL in order to train young liturgical musicians and promote the composition of liturgical music and musical theatre. Over the years, and now under the management of the Youth Sing Praise Foundation, Inc. (since 2011), YSP serves youth of any religious background. Over the course of 9 days (8 nights), young people are empowered to use their vocal and theatrical gifts to be a witness of God's love to the greater community. Professional theatrical staff (music, acting, choreography) help students sharpen skills and build their confidence. Caring and attentive youth ministers serve as a sort of "spiritual camp counselor" to ensure the well-being and personal growth of each student as they navigate a demanding but enriching week. Program administrators and a young adult volunteer team take care of behind-the-scenes planning and preparation for a retreat and camp experience that is one-of-a-kind and strives for ministerial and theatrical excellence. Participants and their families are at once keenly aware that YSP is, above all, a place to belong, a family that combines the talents and passion of so many to create an experience that is unique and unmatched in its power to change lives through engaging artistic expression and faith. Our Catholic foundation and values shape our commitment to invite students of any financial ability, faith background or skill level to take part. Our joyful witness to God's goodness has had an amazing impact not just in our extensive YSP family, but rippled into the greater community (in St. Louis region and nationally) through a free annual stage performance before an audience of thousands. Because of this impact, over 50% of our operating budget comes from the donations of our supporters.

We are the Society of Jesus, a Roman Catholic order of priests and brothers founded half a millennium ago by the courtier-turned-mystic Ignatius Loyola. With close to 18,000 priests and brothers worldwide, we are the largest male religious order in the Catholic Church. We are pastors, teachers, and chaplains. We are also doctors, lawyers, and astronomers, among many other roles in Church and society. We refer to ourselves as the Jesuits of the USA Central and Southern Province, one group within the Society of Jesus in the United States and one part of the worldwide body of Jesuits. Jesuits draw on the rich tradition of Ignatian spirituality and reflection. In our retreat houses, parishes, campus ministries, and other settings, we offer these resources to all who want to discern God’s presence in their lives. At the same time, we also aim to be “contemplatives in action,” people who bring this spirituality into the wide world. That includes our work on behalf of global justice, peace, and dialogue. In our varied ministries, we care for the whole person: body, mind, and soul. And especially in our education ministries, we seek to nurture "men and women for others."

We thank you for visiting our page and hope you consider becoming a Young Friend of the Cathedral. As little as $5 does the trick, and truly every cent is used to maintain our beautiful Cathedral. While many assume its preservation is under the care of the Archdiocese, these treasured works of art are actually not a part of the parish’s budget. It is up to the Friends of the Cathedral Board as well as the Young Friends to ensure their protection. The hours of work and amount of money needed to maintain this building and its art is overwhelming. We rely on the generosity of those around us, as the parish’s first duty is to take care of the people it houses. People from all walks of life are invited to join our group. While we sponsor Catholic activities and events, we would love everyone living in or visiting our city to come down and witness the monumental beauty sitting in the heart of the Central West End. It can be cherished by Catholics and non-Catholics alike as it is open to and welcomes all visitors daily. Thank you again for your interest, feel free to contact us with any questions you may have!

My name is Danny Lybarger, and I am the BarChurch Site Pastor! I am excited that you have checked out our website and I hope you will join us for service on a Sunday night! As a part of The Gathering’s vision to create a Christian community that is compelling to new generations, we have decided to locate ourselves where new generations are hanging out. We are located just outside the Saint Louis University campus at Humphrey’s Bar and Tavern. We find throughout scripture that Jesus was far less concerned with his surroundings, but rather he cared about the heart of those he was surrounded by. At BarChurch we feel the same way – where we meet in is not what makes us a church, but rather the hearts of those who worship with us every single Sunday. For more information, or to connect with anyone on the BarChurch team, please click the link below. We look forward to connecting and worshipping with you at Humphrey’s on Sunday nights at 7:30pm!

Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul
Distance: 1.4 mi Competitive Analysis
4330 Olive St
St. Louis, MO 63108

The Daughters of Charity are a worldwide Society of Apostolic Life called to serve Jesus Christ in the person of the poor and the marginalized. Motivated by the love of Christ and strengthened by a deep prayer life, we live and pray in community, supporting each other in our common mission of service. Like women in other communities, we make vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. What distinguishes us, however, is a fourth vow of service of the poor. Another distinction is that Daughters of Charity do not make perpetual vows, but renew them every year on the Feast of the Annunciation, which permits us to choose again our commitment to our God and to the poor.
