A Wrigleyville mainstay since 2003, this warm-and-woody bar and grill is a welcome respite from the typical sports bar offering above-average pub fare from a scratch kitchen paired with seasonally-minded handcrafted cocktails and a 24-strong draft lineup with a craft focus. The cozy-and-comfortable main room is fitted with rich woods throughout from the high-top tables to the custom-made back bar to the wood-paneled walls. Deep red wall accents and brass-clad beer towers add warmth, the room is tastefully decorated with an eclectic mix of black-and-white classic sports photos. The façade is fitted with floor-to-ceiling doors, which open in the warmer months for views of the sunny Sheffield Avenue sidewalk café. Added amenities include a year-round enclosed back patio, which features a more rustic lodge-inspired vibe, striking handmade beer bottle chandeliers and views of the “L” train passing overhead. Signature dishes, which draw raves from Lakeview locals and Cubs fans alike, include options such as Goose Island Blue Line-battered green beans with chipotle mayo; pulled pork nachos with braised pork shoulder, signature whiskey-spiked barbecue sauce, Cheddar cheese, jalapenos, tomatoes, onions and sour cream; a grilled Paulina Meat Market bratwurst with onion confit and hot mustard; and a Moo and Oink burger, which features a Certified Black Angus beef patty topped with Cheddar cheese, pulled pork, crispy onions and signature barbecue sauce. The Dark Horse is the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers and draws throngs of Pennsylvania ex-pats to support the Black and Gold during football season. The bar also is an official Maryland Terrapins bar (in conjunction with the Chicago Network of the University of Maryland Alumni Association) and is an official Chicago Bulls venue.

One of the city’s largest and most popular summer celebrations, the Taste of Lincoln Avenue celebrated its BIG 30th in 2013! We are excited to have even more good times in 2015! This iconic event sprawls over six city blocks on a major artery in the heart of Lincoln Park where high incomes meet the vibrant DePaul University population. Once home to Chicagos original club scene, today the neighborhood is home to many of the citys acclaimed theaters and music venues as well as top restaurants. Taste of Lincoln Avenue began as a small neighborhood fundraiser and has grown to become the second largest street festival in the region. The event features more than 150 vendors and more than 30 music acts on 3 stages. Every music genre is represented: from Funk and country to rock and folk. Another up-and-coming Taste of Lincoln Avenue highlight is the Lill Street Craft Fair, a juried art event featuring unique DIY and handmade art. There’s also a wildly popular one-block Kids’ Carnival area with live entertainment, art and crafts activities, carnival style games, facepainting and much more!

Blokes & Birds redefines the English pub experience in Chicago. Combining updated gastropub fare and a smart selection of beers and spirits with a plush, comfortable atmosphere and plenty of nods to Anglophile favorites, Blokes & Birds, which is British slang for guys and girls, offers a welcoming spot to return to any night of the week. The menu, created by Executive Chef Greg Cannon (formerly Executive Chef Chicago White Sox, Executive Chef Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, co-creator Haro, Executive Chef Nia Mediterranean Tapas) features contemporary twists on English fare and American comfort food. The menu is complemented by 70 global imports (Wells Bombardier and Abbot Ale lead the English side, while Gulden Draak, St. Bernardus Abt 12 and Tripel Karmeliet head the Belgium brews) and American craft beers (such as locally-made Krankshaft by Metropolitan Brewing and Resistance IPA by Two Brothers Brewing Company), including 24 on tap and a well-edited wine list. Wrigleyville's premier country sports bar takes its name from University of Alabama coach Bear Bryant’s trademark houndstooth fedora, and this Wrigleyville bar is pure ‘Bama from the crimson color scheme to the black-and-white photos of Bryant. Look for the namesake checkered print throughout the venue from the bar’s logo, a hound dog wearing a houndstooth fedora, to the checkered wallpaper in the Trophy Room. The Southern-inspired venue is peppered with eclectic design elements from deer-antler chandeliers to a rawhide-inspired bar top, and features seating options from tufted banquettes to high-top tables. The raucous party-centric saloon offers a Southern-influenced American menu with signature dishes such as pulled pork sandwich with five-hour braised pork shoulder with a Memphis-style dry rub and house Maker’s Mark BBQ sauce; a Southern fried chicken sandwich, with buttermilk-soaked chicken breast, signature seasonings, jalapenos, coleslaw and chipotle ranch; and a Big Al burger, with two beef patties, applewood-smoked bacon, crumbled blue cheese, crispy onions and Buffalo sauce.
