"For all its dietary diversity, Portland is no barbecue bonanza. U-Licious BBQ is a double-wide trailor on NE 15th and Killingsworth. U-Licious's best is, predictably, pork ribs, with dry rub on a not-to-lean spare rib rack. The spices, together with smoke,flavor the meat on the bone rendering sauce superfluous.For sheer creativity, try the lamb shanks; with a snap the smoke-darkened exterior yeilds to moist, tender meat. Pork loin and brisket sandwiches likewise showcase the art of barbeque. Even the red beans and rice side order was deeply flavorful, as was potato salad, a tangy twist on the usual mayonnaise-laden mess. Helser's opened August 10, 2004 by Alex Helser. We use many family recipes and local ingredients to create our meals, including our buttermilk pancake recipe from Alex's Grandmother. Our approach to food and service comes from our own desire of how we would like to be treated and how we feel that every dish should be worth each bite. Hey everyone, We are back!!! After losing our lease we took a couple of months off and are back. We are at the PIEDMONT STATION FOOD CART`S on 625 n.e. Killingsworth St. We have all of the same awesomeness of food as before, but we are operating from a food truck. It's a great spot with covered seating and heaters with two 70 inch TV's and other great food around us. They also have beer and wine available to go with that great fish. Hope to see you there soon. We know you missed that incredible fish/chips and delectable chowder. We missed it too.
